What we offer

The Manager, JV Finance and Controllership is an exciting and highly visible role responsible for ensuring compliance with internal/external controls and Joint Venture partner relationships. This role will interact with all levels of the organization and be a trusted business partner with other finance functions across the organization (i.e. Treasury, Internal Audit, Tax etc.) to maintain divisional specific policies and procedures that align with ASPE reporting. In addition, providing support to Joint Venture partners will be a critical component of this role, whether its package preparation, financial statement review, and/or partner meetings. 

What you’ll do

  • Work with GTA Low Rise departments and external partners to prepare financial analysis and forecasts for joint venture/Mattamy decision making.
  • Lead and coordinate JV partner meetings and communications, being a primary point of contact for JV partners.
  • Manage team of 2 analysts, mentoring and training to help with all responsibilities of the team
  • Review financial statements and reconciliations for both JVs and GTL division, communicating any issues to be corrected by accounting/reporting teams.
  • Coordinate the financial planning and budgeting process for GTL, analyzing current performance vs. estimates and adjust estimates as needed.
  • Evaluate financial reporting systems, accounting procedures and investment activities and make recommendations for changes to procedures, operating systems, budgets and other financial control functions to senior managers and other department or regional managers
  • Create and review high quality reporting packages that meet the need of all joint venture partners based on reporting timelines/requirements.
  • Work with treasury team to help manage cash efficiently, helping coordinate all joint venture financing and ensuring timely contributions/distributions to Mattamy and partners.
  • Work with reporting team to help answer audit related questions, and aid in communication to GTL departments for operational specific questions.
  • Provide support and/or lead ad hoc projects as necessary.

What you bring

  • University Degree, with a focus in Finance or Accounting
  • Accounting designation, CPA required
  • Audit experience
  • The ability to inspire, lead, communicate, take responsibility, develop other people's talents, and build relationships
  • Excellent financial modelling and planning skills, with a track record and orientation towards continuous improvement
  • Strong understanding of cash flows, ability to create cash flow modeling, intelligent forecasting methodologies including identifying drivers in the operations to improve cash and capital returns
  • Sound judgment, with the ability to critically analyze situations, problem-solve, and deal with ambiguity
  • Strong customer focus with excellent relationship building and a collaborative working style
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, including the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization
  • Demonstrates the highest level of ethics and personal integrity
  • Advanced MS Excel and PowerPoint skills
