Mattamy Asset Management (MAM) is an asset manager focused on building a diversified portfolio of investments across geographies, asset classes and the spectrum of risk and return. Mattamy Asset Management is the parent company of Mattamy Homes Canada and Mattamy Homes U.S., which together comprise the largest privately held homebuilding platform in North America. Stelumar Advanced Manufacturing Inc. (SAMI), is the newest business enterprise launched under the Mattamy Asset Management umbrella (leveraging the name of a former Mattamy operation known for creativity and innovation). SAMI will be a modern, advanced cabinet-manufacturing company that will utilize automation and robotics, in a brand-new facility to be built in the GTA. The business is expected to grow significantly once production capability is built and as it scales up to meet demand – cabinets are a central component of a home, whether in the kitchen, bathroom, living room or bedroom, and our goal is to provide thoughtful design and built-ins meant to take advantage of every cubic inch of homes, making them more desirable and livable for customers.

What we offer

Reporting to the CEO, the Production Director will be accountable for supporting the launch and operation of a new, state-of-the-art manufacturing plant. This environment will be highly automated, roboticized, and data-driven. The Production Director is responsible for planning, organizing, supervising, and controlling activities in a manner that ensures the highest possible levels of productivity, quality, on time delivery, customer satisfaction, and profitability while maintaining a positive and safe work environment. The ideal individual will have Minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in a variety of manufacturing sectors, including a minimum of eight (8) in a leadership position, with significant expertise in leading Lean Six Sigma initiatives, managing growth, introducing and successfully implementing new manufacturing methodologies and technologies. The successful candidate will possess a strong entrepreneurial sense, have experience with setting and implementing business strategies, providing exceptional customer service, and a sound business financial understanding.

 

What you’ll do

  • Act as the lead manufacturing subject matter expert on the set up of a new plant
  • Implement efficient processes and lead continuous improvement projects
  • Ensure efficient and effective management of all operations - production, maintenance, logistics, and quality by relying on the best practices of the market and by being on the forefront of innovation in terms of methods and technologies
  • Develop, articulate, and execute on the manufacturing and business growth strategies
  • Configure equipment/plant layout in conjunction with stakeholders with safety, ergonomics, efficiency and material/people flow in mind
  • Responsibility for managing non-conformances incurred during production, and ensuring resolution of an any quality issues and satisfactory and timely resolution for our customers
  • Accountability of the production schedule, ensuring lead time requirements are met
  • Direct quality control; organize and maintain inventory
  • Hire, supervise, train, and oversee employees
  • Plan and implement changes to machinery, production systems, and methods of work
  • Plan and manage the budget; plan, organize, direct, control, and evaluate daily operations
  • Create and maintain a safe work environment
  • Other duties as required
     

What you bring

  • Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, or similar; MBA preferred
  • P. Eng., Lean Six Sigma, PMP designations an asset
  • Ten or more years of progressive manufacturing experience, minimum eight years at senior plant leadership level
  • Experience with manufacturing wood-based products at a large scale strongly preferred
  • Entrepreneurial mindset; hands-on experience in the set-up of new manufacturing plants
  • Familiarity with MES and ERP systems (JDE preferred), Microsoft Office suite of products
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills; demonstrated expertise in leadership and collaboration
  • High level of professionalism, integrity, and ethical conduct
