What we offer

The GTL low-rise division is responsible for procuring trades and materials to support the vast projects spread throughout the greater Toronto area. Mattamy’s low-rise division is the perfect blend of stability and proven success with an entrepreneurial spirit that is an industry leader on innovation and sustainability initiatives. As a Senior Estimator you will play a crucial role in the construction of master planned communities, providing support to construction, architecture and design studio departments. Mattamy is looking for industry leading technical acumen with experience in whole home estimating.

 

This is an excellent opportunity to join the GTA low-rise division, Mattamy’s largest and most established division, with dominant market share in the residential industry. This division is responsible to develop and build master plan communities spanning across the GTA in multiple municipalities.

What you’ll do

  • Prepare and assemble detailed cost estimates and bid documents for construction projects reflective of industry experience, current market conditions and project specifics
  • Participate in cost modelling to help support tender analysis, feasibility studies and value engineering.
  • Analyze design drawings, specifications, consultants reports and initiate RFIs as required.
  • Provide quantity take-off in all trades discipline for budgeting and tendering.
  • Prepare trades and supplier’s tender package.
  • Assist with resolving trades contract related issues.
  • Analysis of cost comparison and differences in products and services; compares contractor proposals with required project scope to determine completeness.
  • Establish and maintain working relationships with subcontractors, construction staff and supervisors.
  • Maintain and update internal cost database as well as gathering external data related to commodity and labour cost trends.

What you bring

  • Post-secondary degree(s) and/or certificate(s) in architecture, engineering, construction and/or project management.
  • 5+ years of experience in estimating, budgeting and procurement in a construction environment.
  • Proven experience with whole home estimating, able to assess a design and assign costs across trades.
  • Ability to read and understand construction drawings, specifications and consultant reports
  • Ability to perform quantity take-off in all trade disciplines.
  • Strong mathematical aptitude and analytical skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work in collaborative team environment.
  • Computer literacy, with strong knowledge of Excel and Word.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit with a focus on performance and continuous improvement.

Bonus points

  • Experience with Bluebeam and JD Edwards.
