PAYRATE:                $24.49

JOB CLOSING DATE: Until Filled 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Diagnose vehicular problems. Inspects and repairs damaged bodies and body parts of vehicles using hand tools and power tools.
  2. Responsible for painting vehicles and bus parts in the repair of vehicles. Refinish repaired surface, using paint spray gun and sander.
  3. Perform welding to MATA equipment and vehicles including welding to copper, aluminum and steel.
  4. May remove accessories and damaged equipment of damaged vehicles using hand tools and power tools.
  5. Maintain accurate service records.
  6. MUST have framework experience

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  1. Run errands for maintenance department. 
  2. Move furniture and equipment as required. 
  3. Assume additional responsibilities as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: High school diploma or GED required 

Other:  Minimum 6 years' experience in the body and chassis repair of vehicles; painting, welding; must possess standard mechanical hand tools and be experienced in the use of tools to perform mechanical work.  Must have Class A ("P" endorsement) Commercial Driver's License.  Must be able to read and understand maintenance and repair manuals; prepare work cards and orders for vehicle repairs.

 

Environment:    Extensive walking and standing in course of normal business day; lifting a maximum of 50 lbs. and lifting parts and materials overhead.  Requires ability to withstand exposure to weather conditions, dust, engine fumes and extreme noise levels.  Requires ability to perform hand-over-hand method of steering vehicles and be able to grip a steering wheel.  Must be able to crawl or stoop into tight areas and lay horizontal under a vehicle. Requires ability to hear directions given; visually perform essential functions for satisfactory job performance.
