JOB TITLE:              Trolley Laborer                                  

DEPARTMENT:       Trolley

RESPONSIBLE TO: Manager of Trolley Infrastructure

PAY RATE:                $16.52 per hour

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Cleans interior and exterior of rail cars by washing and steam cleaning using a variety of solvents, soaps, and cleaning chemicals.

2. Checks general condition of rail cars and reports defects. Replaces lighting as needed. 
3. Services and cleans all equipment. Responsible for cutting the lawn, as needed.
4. Assembles fabricated parts to make Trolleys parts; such as doors and window frames, support frames, and bumper support frames.
5. Couples and uncouples cars and moves rail cars in yard.  Services pantographs, wheels, axles, connectors, and other parts of  cars. 
6. Conducts maintenance on tracks.
7. Operates and services small trucks, trailers, lawn mowers, lawn edges, trimmers, and other equipment. 
8. Maintains shop facilities and grounds; performs all maintenance duties.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 
1. Assumes additional responsibilities as required. 
2. Cleans and services shop equipment. 
3. Assists mechanics when needed. 
4. Makes deliveries and picks up materials using a MATA vehicle.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

Education:
High school diploma or GED required. 

Other:
1. Ability to operate cleaning equipment on buildings and grounds such as steam cleaner, buffer, forklift, etc. 
2. Previous experience with electrical equipment and electricity is a plus.  
3. Must have a valid driver's license.
4. Must be able to read and understand directions given on work cards and orders; write legibly to complete orders and receive parts and supplies. 
5. Must be willing to comply with the company’s Drug and Alcohol Policy.
6. Must always comply with safety and COVID protocols.
7. Regular and consistent attendance is required.
8. Work records of current employees will be reviewed for satisfactory job performance and minimum qualifications.

Environment:
1. Extensive walking and standing in course of normal business day.
2. Must be able to lift a maximum of 50lbs. and lift parts and materials overhead. 
3. Requires ability to withstand exposure to negative surroundings such as uncomfortable weather conditions, dust, engine fumes, and extreme noise levels and areas powered by high voltage electricity.  
4. Must be able to climb on a ladder or other equipment to heights such as on roof of buildings at MATA facility. 
5. Must be able to crawl or stoop into tight areas and lay horizontal under a vehicle.
6. Requires ability to hear directions given and visually perform essential functions for satisfactory job performance.
