About Very Verified Libya 

IREX, with support from the U.S. Embassy Libya, implements the Very Verified Libya program to help Libyan youth develop the critical and analytical thinking and emotional regulation skills they need to be able to discern misinformation and manipulative content from factual reporting. Libyan youth will also develop the digital wellbeing and awareness to navigate their information space, and the digital citizenship and empathy-building skills to engage in community life as the country takes tentative steps toward reconciliation and peacebuilding.  

IREX is looking for:   

Experts in North Africa, specifically the Libyan context.  

Experts in youth development, including online trainings, organizing, recruitment, and mentoring. 

Knowledge of curriculum development and online training with an understanding of media literacy; 

Knowledge of related disciplines, such as journalism, education, psychology, and fact checking. 

About the positions:   

IREX is seeking experts who have strong knowledge of and experience in Libya. IREX prefers local consultants with expertise and experience in youth development and participatory online training approaches for youth audiences.  Knowledge of media literacy and/or related disciplines, especially in the North African context, is preferred. There is no minimum and no maximum number of experts to be selected under this call.    

The experts will work with Very Verified Libya staff in Amman, Jordan and Washington, DC on a variety of assignments such as adapting online curriculand developing facilitation guides.  Experts selected will be hired for assignments based on background and availability.   

Example Duties and Responsibilities:  

  • Develop, review and/or adapt media literacy online training resources to the Libyan context and for Libyan audiences; 
  • Review and contribute to training facilitator guides; 
  • Other tasks as assigned, based on consultant’s background and program needs.  

 Preferred skills and qualifications:  

  • Understanding of Libya, the Libyan context and North Africa; 
  • Knowledge and field-level experience in working with youth; 
  • Experience in youth development; 
  • Experience in training (both virtual and in-person) preferred; 
  • Knowledge of interactive methods in developing curricula and training materials; 
  • Demonstrated understanding of media landscape and media environment in Libya and/or North Africa; 
  • Languages: fluency in Arabic and working proficiency in English required. Knowledge of Libyan Arabic a plus.
