Global Trade and Logistics Manager


The Global Trade and Logistics Manager will serve as the subject matter expert in the areas of global trade compliance and transportation logistics.  The role will establish policies and procedures to ensure cost effective and seamless flow of products throughout the supply chain.


Essential Functions:

  • Develop the management process for classification of new products to ensure compliance with all import/ export regulations including country of origin, product markings, packaging, labeling, HTS and product specific certification.
  • Manage Global carrier and freight forwarder negotiation, contracts, and relationships.
  • Establish training and provide support in customer contract negotiations concerning terms of sale and INCO terms.
  • Identify compliance gaps and recommend corrective actions where appropriate.
  • Provide guidance on global trade compliance matters for both import and export; including impact on service and costs.
  • Serves as the primary contact for import/ export compliance and government inquiries or notifications relating to trade compliance.
  • Establish a process for the accurate quoting of all cost related to freight, taxes, duties, and other customs clearance fees.
  • Establish the process for proper auditing of freight and broker invoices.
  • Actively support operational process controls through regular activity and training with Product Management, Logistics, Sales, Finance, Marketing and Distribution to keep the company compliant with trade regulations.
  • Stay current with freight practices and procedures and provide recommendations for improvement based on changing market or network conditions.
  • Develop risk mitigation plans to ensure continuous flow of goods.
  • Reports on the state of the company's logistic costs, service performance, compliance, areas of risk, recommend solutions, and obtain guidance and/or decision support for required improvements.
  • Develop appropriate metrics and manage KPI’s associated with logistics activity.
  • Partner with business teams to create a profit-based, price-competitive logistics model. 



  • Bachelor Degree in Logistics, Business or another related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience
  • Fluent knowledge and understanding of industry specific regulations such as INCO terms, IATA and Harmonized Tariff schedules
  • Experience working with dangerous and hazardous goods
  • Capable of working with individuals at all levels of an organization
  • Independent and resourceful
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to work under pressure, multi-task and meet deadlines
