Senior User Experience Designer – IoT Software (Contract Role)
Description
As a Senior User Experience Designer (UXD), Software you will support InVue’s mission to improve security, operational visibility, and experiences for the world’s most valuable brands in retail.
The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with strong UXD working experience executing leading edge UX & UI for mobile and web applications. You will partner with product management and engineering peers to research and/or drive research yourself and provide design oversight for internal and external software development teams.
Reporting to the VP of Software Solutions, you will craft exceptional user experiences for innovative mobile-first IoT solutions focused on delivering a strong value-prop for large retailers by combining InVue’s technology in the areas of access control, asset protection and theft prevention, merchandising security, retail user experience, and operational visibility.
You will be responsible for managing your own work queue in Jira and solve design challenges while operating in a startup environment. You will be an advocate for our customer experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Own the design process from concept to completion using Jira to lead design projects from planning to strategic to execution phase.
- Craft exceptional user experiences for mobile first innovative IoT products.
- Conduct user research to understand user needs, behaviors, and pain points.
- Create interaction design, prototyping, and usability testing to ensure a seamless and intuitive user journey across all touchpoints.
- Develop user personas, journey maps, and user flows to define optimal user experience.
- Translate user needs and utilize a diverse design toolkit (wireframing, prototyping, user testing) to create high-fidelity mockups, prototypes, and documentation that effectively communicate design intent.
- Design intuitive, user-centered, and zero-training user interfaces (UIs) across multiple touchpoints (mobile apps, web apps, web dashboards).
- Work closely with engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders to get buy in and capture relevant feedback while ensuring user needs are prioritized.
- Develop InVue’s Software Solutions user experience design guidelines and development best practices and standards at InVue’s Software Design in Confluence.
- Contribute to the InVue’s design system and ensure UI consistency.
- Develop and maintain reusable UI components and design patterns that promote a cohesive user experience across the entire IoT ecosystem.
- Independently deliver solutions for problems of large scope, complexity and ambiguity
- Proactively pitch new ideas, backed by a strong, well-articulated rationale and research.
- Educate cross-functionally on your design decisions backed with data insights.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 10+ years of UXD experience with direct responsibility for mobile/web UX development
- 4+ years of UXD experience using Jira to manage execution of design projects
- Hands on experience using design toolkit (wireframing, prototyping, user testing) to create low/high-fidelity mockups, prototypes, and documentation.
- Deep understanding of best practices for User Interface Design, Information Architecture, and Interaction Design
- Be a self-starter who can manage your own workload while actively collaborating with engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders to ensure a user-centric approach throughout the development process.
- Strong presentation, communication, and collaboration skills
- Ability to lead continuous UX improvement for software products
- Bachelor's degree required.
