Position at DNEG

The Lead Compositor works within a department and is typically assigned to one show. They support the Compositing Supervisor to ensure the artists in their team use consistent methodologies to deliver the highest quality of work on time, on budget, and in a sustainable way. They are expected to lead a group of shots and artists on a show, completing templates and look development tasks for team use.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver shots and sequences to the Comp Supervisor and ensure creative and technical continuity.
  • Provide leadership and technical support for the team.
  • Deliver the required quality standards.
  • Adhere to consistent department workflows and processes.
  • Assist Comp supervisor in the creation and development of show templates.
  • Contribute to workflow and methodologies to help with the efficiency and productivity of projects.
Must Haves
  • You must have 5+ years in the VFX industry compositing for film and television.
  • You must have 1-2 years as a Lead in the VFX industry.
  • Advanced experience in using Nuke including facility with template creation.
  • Experienced with leading and supervising compositors. 
  • Strong communicator and able listener. 
  • Critical eye for detail, and be able to communicate visual aspects to the team.
  • Solid understanding of colorspaces and color pipelines.
  • Ability to manage multiple artists and priorities simultaneously.
Nice to Have
  • Familiarity with Python scripting
  • LookDev experience

 

2 years contract
The ideal candidate must have the right to work in Australia.

For this role, we ask that candidates be available to work from the office at least two days per week. If you're not currently based in Sydney, relocation will be required to be eligible.
