Position Summary

The System Engineering Co-op student will work alongside, and in support of the Systems Engineering team. The system engineering team is a diverse, collaborative group working on the support and/or development of medical devices used to automate in-vitro diagnostic testing usually found in a microbiology laboratory. The engineering co-op student will be supervised by and mentored by the Director, Manager, and Senior engineers within the System Engineering team and the role will include a significant amount of interaction and collaboration with other system development team members.

Primary Duties

  • The co-op student will obtain basic knowledge related to medical instrumentation research, design, development, and testing. Candidates will be expected to have general engineering knowledge including the use of standard engineering practices.

  • This position will include creation and execution of verification tests, troubleshooting, diagnosing, and evaluating instrument and system issues and design alternatives.

  • The co-op student will be given the opportunity to acquire knowledge and understanding of the bioMérieux Design Control process that addresses US and international regulatory requirements, as well as internal Quality requirements.

  • Perform all work in compliance with company quality procedures and standards.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Education, Training and Experience

  • Must be currently enrolled in a BS or MS Program in a related Systems, Biomedical, Electrical, or Mechanical engineering program and completed 1 full year
