Position Summary

This is a mechanical design engineering position with an emphasis on engineering design of complex medical instruments. This individual will collaborate with R&D engineering staff to design, document, prototype, and test complex medical instruments.

 

Primary Duties

  1. Assists in the definition, proof of concept, design, development, implementation and/or support of technical or business solutions by performing specific research activities or developments within the scope of the assigned activity.

  2. Assumes responsibility for the identification of errors and related problem solving in order to identify the necessary activities to provide a solution.

  3. Develops all deliverables following all design and development processes for design control and good scientific practices to ensure scientific relevance.

  4. Creates appropriate documentation of assigned activities and prepares summaries and/or other relevant reports within the function.

  5. Defines priorities within the scope of the assigned activities to ensure timeliness and quality of project(s) the level involved in.

  6. Provides assistance for the scope of assigned activities to ensure milestones are met.

  7. Provides technical support to the organization in new functional approaches, methods, and tools.

  8. Provides support to Verification activities.

  9. Actively participates in Design Transfer processes.

  10. Performs other duties as assigned.

  11. Performs all work in compliance with company quality procedures and standards.

 

Qualifications

Required Education, Training, and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree required in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline.

  • 2 years of professional experience in designing mechanical systems, equipment, and/or components.
Preferred Education, Training, and Experience
  • Experience designing mechanical components and/or systems for new product development.
  • Experience designing parts that use common manufacturing methods and materials, such as injection-molded plastic, machining, and sheet metal.

  • Design in accordance with ASME Y14.5.

  • Design for Manufacturability.

  • PDM systems (Windchill preferred).

  • Mechanical CAD for 3D Modeling and Drawings (SolidWorks preferred).

  • Dimensioning Standards (ASME Y14.5 preferred).

  • Experience mechanical engineering and prototype design.

The estimated salary range for this role is between $82,000-$115,000. This role is eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and individual performance per bioMerieux’s bonus program. This range may differ from ranges offered for similar positions elsewhere in the country given differences in cost of living. Actual compensation within this range is determined based on the successful candidate’s experience and will be presented in writing at the time of the offer.
