Materials Driver I
Description
Shift: Sunday–Tuesday, with every other Wednesday. 6:00 PM–6:30 AM
The Materials Driver I is responsible for supporting warehouse, logistics, and distribution operations through the safe and efficient transportation, receipt, storage, and movement of materials and finished goods. This role ensures timely delivery of materials throughout the facility while maintaining inventory accuracy, compliance with quality standards, and adherence to safety regulations.
The successful candidate will operate company vehicles and warehouse equipment, perform material transactions using warehouse management systems, and provide critical support to manufacturing and internal customers through just-in-time material replenishment practices. This is an entry-level role that offers opportunities to develop skills in logistics, inventory management, and supply chain operations.
Key Responsibilities
Logistics & Material Handling
- Drive designated routes as assigned by leadership.
- Safely transport finished goods and raw materials using company vehicles and warehouse equipment.
- Physically and electronically move materials to designated storage and production locations.
- Perform real-time replenishment of materials to support internal customers and production needs.
- Assist with shipping, receiving, picking, packing, and order preparation activities as needed.
Inventory & Warehouse Operations
- Receive, inspect, quantify, and store incoming materials from various delivery sources.
- Perform inventory transactions and maintain accurate records within the Warehouse Management System (WMS).
- Complete bin maintenance activities and maintain organized shelving and storage locations.
- Ensure a high level of accuracy when logging, labeling, tracking, and transporting materials.
- Support inventory control activities and assist in identifying and managing non-conforming materials.
Transportation & Compliance
- Comply with all applicable State and Federal laws governing the operation of company vehicles.
- Maintain knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations and Utah Administrative Rules for Motor Carriers.
- Conduct pre-trip inspections and monitor vehicle maintenance needs.
- Verify deliveries to ensure materials meet quality standards before acceptance.
- Document logistics Key Performance Objectives (KPOs) and operational data as required.
Safety & Quality
- Follow all company safety policies and OSHA warehouse safety requirements.
- Maintain compliance with applicable training requirements and work instructions.
- Perform all duties in accordance with company quality standards and procedures.
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to workplace safety and continuous improvement.
- Promote professionalism and effective communication with internal and external customers.
Additional Responsibilities
- Support warehouse and logistics operations as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Valid Utah Driver's License.
- Ability to successfully pass a State DOT physical and maintain a valid Medical Examiner Certificate.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in inventory control, warehouse operations, shipping and receiving, or straight truck driving.
- Materials handling experience within the medical device, biotechnology, or regulated manufacturing industry.
- Familiarity with FDA-regulated material control practices.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
The employee must be able to:
- Remain in a stationary position, sitting or standing, for extended periods.
- Ascend and descend stairs, ladders, ramps, and similar equipment.
- Wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for most of the workday.
- Operate warehouse equipment and heavy machinery safely.
- Lift, carry, push, pull, and move up to 50 pounds.
- Maintain three points of contact when entering and exiting vehicles.
- Work in warehouse and manufacturing environments.

The wage for this role based in Utah is $18.00. This role is eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and individual performance per bioMerieux’s bonus program. This range may differ from ranges offered for similar positions elsewhere in the country given differences in cost of living. Actual compensation within this range is determined based on the successful candidate’s experience and will be presented in writing at the time of the offer.
