Job Summary

Reporting to the Chief People Officer, the Director, Total Rewards serves as a consultant to senior management on compensation & benefits matters such as salary management, incentive compensation design and administration, sales compensation design, employee/manager education and communication, job design and evaluation, integration of new acquisitions, and interpretation of corporate policies/procedures. This role will also oversee the HRIS function and will be responsible for ensuring compliance with various federal and state regulations regarding all compensation, benefit plans and employee data. This role will be a key member of the HR leadership team and will work closely with the executive team to design programs to attract, motivate and retain talent at Ayr Wellness.


Duties and responsibilities or (Essential Functions)

  • The Total Rewards Director is responsible for designing, planning, and implementing compensation, benefits, and wellness programming, policies, and procedures while maintaining and regularly optimizing system operations for the organization’s HRIS WURK.
  •  This role is also responsible for monitoring the effectiveness of our total rewards practices and recommending changes that are cost-effective and consistent with trends and corporate objectives.  
  • This position will be responsible for hiring and developing a specialized team of total rewards and systems talent and will provide leadership and direct supervision to that team by inspiring, developing and holding accountability to performance expectations
  • This position also leads efforts around but not limited to: annual benefits plan renewals, ad-hoc plan modifications, participant attestations, programming designed to promote wellness and wellbeing.
  • Responsible for creating effective communication strategies to drive employee awareness and understanding of Total Reward programs and for ensuring the highest level of customer service is always provided to our teams.


  • Minimum of 10 years of professional and relevant work experience in Human Resources with a focus on Benefits, Compensation, and HRIS. Equivalent combination of work/education experience accepted
  • The leader in this role will have a strategic, creative and data driven approach to recommendations and decision making, and expertise in development of strategy, design and administration of compensation and total rewards programs.
  • Must have excellent leadership and communication skills with proven ability to attract, develop, and motivate the talent required for current and future business needs
  • Strong project management and continuous process improvement skills.
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills with the ability to translate and statistically analyze data and effectively report problems through written and/or graphical formats.
  • Expertise in vendor management, benefit plan design and benefit practices & programs
