Description

A Patch Management Coordinator ensures an organization's software, firmware, and systems are secure, stable, and compliant by planning, testing, deploying, and monitoring updates, minimizing risks and downtime through automation, reporting, and collaboration with IT security and operations teams to apply critical security patches and feature updates. They manage patching tools (like SCCM, WSUS, Tanium), troubleshoot failures, create policies, and provide reports on patch compliance, bridging technical deployment with security mandates. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Patch Deployment & Management: Assess, schedule, test, and deploy OS and application patches across servers, endpoints, and networks.
  • Vulnerability & Risk Management: Monitor for vulnerabilities, conduct risk assessments, and remediate security gaps to protect against cyber threats.
  • Automation & Scripting: Develop scripts (e.g., PowerShell) to automate patching processes, improve efficiency, and optimize system performance.
  • Policy & Compliance: Enforce patching policies, maintain compliance with industry standards (NIST, ISO), and ensure adherence to internal directives.
  • Monitoring & Reporting: Track patch compliance, generate reports for management, and analyze system health.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with security, infrastructure, and application teams to coordinate deployments and minimize disruption.
  • Troubleshooting: Resolve patch deployment failures and system incidents, performing root cause analysis. 

Essential Skills & Qualifications

  • Technical Expertise: Proficiency with patching tools (like ManageEngine Endpoint Central, ManageEngine Patch Manager, Intune, etc.)
  •  Windows/Linux systems, and automation scripting.
  • Security Knowledge: Understanding of cybersecurity best practices, threat mitigation, and regulatory compliance.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong problem-solving, attention to detail, and ability to analyze complex technical data.
  • Communication: Ability to present technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience: 5+ year of IT related experience with at least 2 years of leading patch management activities. 
  • Education: Associate’s degree or current enrollment in a Bachelor’s program in Computer Science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or related field.
