Senior Director of Operations Innovation
At American Credit Acceptance (ACA), our mission is to help emerging credit consumers obtain affordable, reliable transportation — and that mission extends throughout the entire life of the loan. The Senior Director of Operations Innovation plays a critical role in shaping how ACA delivers operational excellence and recovery outcomes at scale.
This leader will oversee the operational management and strategic transformation of ACA’s loss mitigation and recovery functions, driving innovation across process, technology, data analytics, and talent. The role partners closely with executive leadership to reimagine business outcomes, modernize core systems, and creatively leverage AI to enhance operational effectiveness, insights, and performance — all while ensuring strong regulatory compliance.
This position blends vision, operational excellence, and people leadership, with accountability for results, risk management, and continuous improvement.

What You’ll Do
  • Own the overall loss mitigation and recovery strategy, ensuring effective mitigation of losses and maximization of recoveries for ACA
  • Drive innovation by rethinking loss mitigation outcomes, leveraging technology, automation, advanced analytics, and AI-enabled solutions to improve decision quality and efficiency
  • Establish a strong data-driven operating model, using analytics and reporting to inform strategy, resource allocation, and executive decision-making
  • Evaluate and recommend changes to organizational structure, staffing models, talent capabilities, and workforce planning
  • Lead system enhancements and technology initiatives across loss mitigation and recovery platforms
  • Oversee departmental budgets and lead process improvement initiatives to improve cost efficiency, scalability, and performance
  • Collaborate with cross-functional leaders to identify, prioritize, and resolve operational and compliance challenges
  • Guide the development and delivery of loss mitigation, recovery, and production reporting to support executive-level insights
  • Ensure strong governance, audit readiness, and compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Set performance standards, make employment decisions, and conduct regular performance evaluations for leaders within the organization
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on operational strategy, risk, and organizational health

Leadership Scope
This role has direct supervisory responsibility for a team of leaders, including managers and directors, within the Loss Mitigation organization.

What You Bring
  • 10+ years of experience in auto loan servicing or financial services
  • 5+ years of experience in collections and/or recoveries
  • 5+ years of progressive people leadership experience, including managing leaders
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience
  • Strong understanding of operational risk, audit, and regulatory compliance
  • Demonstrated success leading technology, systems, analytics, or process transformation initiatives
  • Working knowledge of budget development and financial management
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence at all levels
  • Strong analytical, logical reasoning, and decision-making skills
  • MSP/CMS technical knowledge preferred

Work Environment & Expectations
  • Professional office environment with standard office equipment
  • Full-time role; Monday–Friday schedule with flexibility as business needs require
  • Up to 10% travel

Supervisory Responsibility

This position will have supervisory responsibility for a team of leaders, including managers and directors within the Loss Mitigation organization.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position with a work schedule of Monday-Friday with some schedule variations as needed.

Travel

This position will require up to 10% travel.
