🚀 We’re Hiring! Senior Backend Engineer – Bogotá (Hybrid)

At Traffic Tech, we’re transforming global freight logistics with intelligent, scalable platforms that power the movement of goods worldwide. Our Bogotá tech hub partners closely with teams across North America, Europe, and Asia to advance our Freight Operating System.
 
We’re looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to design, implement, and maintain our core services and data pipelines. You will take ownership of high-performance, scalable back-end systems that support our freight management workflows. Strong DevOps skills—such as building CI/CD pipelines, automating infrastructure, and implementing observability—are highly desirable to ensure smooth deployment and operation of your services.
📍 Location: Bogotá, Colombia – Hybrid
🌐 Language Requirement: English (B2+) – Mandatory
 
🎯 What You Bring
  • 5+ years building backend systems in Python (FastAPI, Django) with PostgreSQL and Kafka
  • Proven experience with event-driven architectures and data pipelines
  • Strong skills in async programming and data validation (Pydantic)
  • Expertise in RESTful and gRPC API design, authentication, and versioning
  • English proficiency (B2+), spoken and written
  • Problem-solving mindset and ability to work autonomously in hybrid, multicultural teams
✨ Nice to Have
  • CI/CD experience with GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, or Jenkins
  • Kubernetes (AKS) and Azure cloud knowledge
  • Familiarity with observability stacks and SecOps best practices
  • Certifications (CKAD, Azure DevOps, Cloud Security)
  • Background in logistics, transportation, or supply chain
💡 What You’ll Do
Backend Development (Primary)
  • Build Python-based microservices and REST/gRPC APIs using FastAPI, Django, or similar frameworks
  • Design relational and NoSQL schemas with PostgreSQL and Redis
  • Implement Kafka-based event-driven pipelines with dead-letter queue handling and schema enforcement (Pydantic)
  • Optimize for low latency and high throughput, tuning code, queries, and message brokers
  • Ensure quality with unit, integration, and load testing, plus code reviews
DevOps & Infrastructure (Highly Desirable)
  • Develop CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Jenkins
  • Manage cloud resources via Terraform, Helm, or ARM templates on Azure (AKS)
  • Deploy observability stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, OpenTelemetry)
  • Automate deployments, backups, and maintenance with Python or Bash scripts
  • Implement secure deployments (RBAC, OAuth2, mTLS), manage secrets with Vault, and run vulnerability scans (Trivy, Snyk)
Collaboration & Documentation
  • Partner with Product and Security teams on API contracts, data models, and deployment strategies
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies (stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives)
  • Maintain clear, versioned documentation for services, schemas, and infrastructure
