SXEW Operator
Description
Monitor & Control Operations:
Oversee the entire SX (Solvent Extraction) and EW (Electrowinning) circuit, ensuring smooth operation of pumping systems, ponds, mixer-settlers, tanks, and rectifiers.
Adjust Process Parameters:
Regularly test and fine-tune flow rates, chemical dosing, and pH levels to maintain optimal copper recovery and current efficiency.
Tankhouse Operations:
Maintain cathode quality by ensuring smooth operation of the plant, cell maintenance, and conducting cathode harvesting with care and precision.
Safety & Environmental Stewardship:
Always follow site safety protocols and environmental regulations. Participate in routine safety checks, audits, and risk assessments.
Data Logging & Reporting:
Accurately document process data, production volumes, and shift reports. Report anomalies and assist in troubleshooting.
Routine Maintenance Support:
Assist maintenance teams with basic troubleshooting and preventive maintenance.
Chemical Handling:
Safely handle reagents such as extractants, diluents, acids, and flocculants. Ensure proper labeling, storage, and usage.
Prior experience in hydrometallurgical processing, preferably in an SXEW operation.
Strong understanding of solvent extraction chemistry and electrowinning fundamentals.
Ability to read P&IDs, follow SOPs, and respond to DCS/HMI control changes.
Mechanically inclined with good troubleshooting instincts.
Comfortable working in outdoor and plant environments with PPE.
Self-motivated with excellent attention to detail and process discipline.
High school diploma or GED required; associate degree or technical certification in process technology or metallurgy is a plus.
2+ years in mining, chemical processing, or industrial plant operations.
Familiarity with copper mining and in-situ recovery (ISR) is a bonus.
