Summary: 

The newly established Centre of Excellence (CoE) will operate the IFS Cloud ERP platform and an integrated landscape of complementary technologies, supporting the business in achievement of their strategies and enabling business change and transformation efforts. 

 

The Director, ERP Technical Delivery will lead the strategy, architecture, and technical execution of the newly deployed IFS ERP system and related technologies.  The role is responsible for the long-term technical vision and delivery of the ERP platform, ensuring it aligns with business objectives, supports operational needs, and is scalable for future growth.  The Director, ERP Technical Delivery will collaborate closely with product leaders to ensure the platform supports key business initiatives across all functional areas, resolving cross-functional decisions and mitigating system risks.

 

Requirements:   

  • ERP Platform Strategy and Architecture:
    • Defines and implements the overall technical strategy for the IFS ERP platform, ensuring alignment with the company’s strategic goals.
    • Leads the design, development, and optimization of the ERP architecture to meet current and future business requirements.
    • Establishes a long-term technical roadmap for the ERP system, ensuring it can scale with business growth and adapt to new technologies.
    • Ensures cloud solutions are designed for high availability, disaster recovery, and scalability.
    • Defines and governs reference and master data, working in collaboration with Product owners, data owners and stewards in the business and supporting functions.
    • Proactively collaborates with RES’s cyber security team, data officer / legal, regulatory and compliance experts - so that the ERP platform can constantly be kept aligned to RES risks and policies and that those teams can measure and confidence in risk mitigations within the ERP.
  • Integration Management:
    • Oversees the integration of associated systems with the IFS ERP system using Boomi middleware, ensuring efficient data flow and process synchronization across all connected systems.
    • Ensures design and implementation of custom integrations support seamless interaction between the ERP system and external systems, applications, and data sources.
    • Ensures the technical infrastructure is optimized for performance, reliability, and scalability in support of integration needs.
  • Technical Delivery Oversight:
    • Is accountable for the end-to-end technical delivery of the ERP system, ensuring optimal configuration, customization, data migration, and system performance.
    • Works closely with value streams to ensure technical deliverables meet business needs, including timely execution of all phases of project delivery.
    • Oversees system upgrades and releases.
    • Ensures the ERP system meets the company’s performance, security, and compliance requirements, including adherence to industry regulations and standards (e.g., GDPR).
    • Contributes to budgeting, forecasting and optimisation of ERP Costs, including licensing and hosting costs.
    • Works with value streams to resolve complex or high priority technical faults and incidents, liaising with IFS and other vendor product, support and R&D teams to reach acceptable outcomes.
    • Oversees Service-Management and operational processes and standards and work cross-functionally to ensure that these are implemented and operated consistently.
    • Oversees provisioning and access related activities and requests within a defined security framework.
    • Partners with value streams to ensure that technical solutions align with product roadmaps and business priorities.
    • Supports product teams in identifying technical dependencies, managing risks, and ensuring the technical platform enables optimal business process workflows.
    • Provides technical leadership and input into product development, ensuring that business goals are supported by the right technical solutions.
  • Vendor and Stakeholder Management:
    • Manages relationships with third-party suppliers, including IFS, Boomi, and other technology providers, ensuring they deliver high-quality services according to contract terms.
    • Negotiate service level agreements (SLAs) and hold suppliers accountable for performance.
  • Platform Reporting and Analytics:
    • Owns and drives the CoE’s data strategy, collaborating with Group IT to ensure alignment to wider organisational data and IT strategy.
    • Oversees the development of reporting capabilities within the ERP system to ensure real-time visibility into business performance, process optimization, and decision-making support.
    • Ensures integration of business intelligence (BI) and analytics tools to provide actionable insights across functional areas such as finance, operations, and supply chain.
    • Leads on data and integration governance, quality control, and information auditing, including working directly with application developers and clients to resolve data conflicts and inappropriate usage.
    • Partners with business units to identify and develop custom reporting needs, ensuring data accuracy and usability.
  • Business Process Support:
    • Leads technical efforts to streamline and automate business processes within the ERP system to increase efficiency and reduce operational costs.
    • Provides continuous improvement recommendations, working with value streams and business leaders to adapt the ERP system to evolving business needs.
  • Governance and Controls:
    • Establishes and maintain governance frameworks for ERP system changes, ensuring all updates follow structured change management processes.
    • Defines technical standards and best practices for system architecture, integration, and data management to ensure platform consistency and reliability.
    • Ensures robust quality assurance and testing procedures are in place for all technical deliverables, including system upgrades and customizations.
    • Proactively manages technical and controls risks associated with the ERP platform, including cybersecurity, system failures, data breaches and internal controls.
    • Ensures the platform remains compliant with RES’ regulations, policies, data and security standards.
    • Ensures disaster recovery and business continuity plans meet requirements and are routinely tested, overseeing improvements where necessary.
  • Fosters a culture of collaboration, continuous learning, and technical excellence within the team.
  • Provides performance management and professional development opportunities for team members, ensuring their skills remain aligned with emerging technologies and company needs.

 

Safety:

  • Follows safety and security procedures and determines appropriate action.  Reports potentially unsafe conditions and uses materials and equipment properly.

 

Leadership: 

  • Leadership and Coordination:
    • Leads and directs a team of technical professionals, including developers, integration specialists, and system administrators, to ensure the successful technical execution of the ERP system.
    • Coordinates cross-functional teams, both internally and externally, to ensure technical alignment and timely delivery of all components.
    • Ensures team adherence to project management frameworks (Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid) and drive best practices within the team.
    • Partners with other technical leaders to create a shared vision of architecture and establish architectural principles for the organization.

 

Qualifications:

  • Highschool/GED is required.
  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, or related field is required.
  • Masters degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, or related field is preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience undertaking IT Leadership roles, with a focus on ERP systems and large-scale technical project delivery is required.
  • 3+ years of experience working in a product team setting, ensuring technical platforms align with business goals is required.
  • 3+ years of experience in the renewable energy sector or similar industry is preferred.
  • Ability to travel 5-15%.
  • Knowledge:
    • Deep understanding of ERP platforms, particularly IFS, including technical architecture, configuration, customization, and deployment methodologies.
    • Fundamental knowledge of integration platforms like Boomi.
    • Strong knowledge of cloud-based infrastructure, including data management, APIs, and system architecture relevant to ERP systems.
    • In-depth understanding of reporting and analytics tools, including BI integration, to drive data-driven decision-making across business functions.
    • Strong experience managing large-scale ERP implementations, with a track record of delivering on time and within budget.
    • Experience leading technical change initiatives, ensuring smooth adoption of new systems and processes by end-users.
    • Understanding of principles and practices for IT service management, DevOps and Agile
  • Ability:
    • Leading and managing technical teams.
    • Advanced stakeholder management skills with the ability to communicate and interact confidently with senior leadership and regional and functional executive teams.
    • Proven leadership in managing and directing technical teams, fostering an environment of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
    • Ability to define and execute a long-term technical strategy for the ERP platform, aligning with the company’s strategic goals and business objectives.
    • Advocacy and adoption of IT security principles, regulatory requirements, and best practices related to ERP systems, including data privacy (GDPR) and compliance.
    • Familiarity with both Agile and Waterfall project management frameworks, with the ability to apply the appropriate methodology based on project scope.
  • Skills:
    • Proven experience working collaboratively with product leaders and business stakeholders to align technical solutions with product and business strategies.
    • Skilled in managing relationships with external vendors and partners, negotiating contracts, and ensuring high performance from third-party service providers.
    • Expertise in identifying, mitigating, and managing technical risks across ERP implementations, including compliance and cybersecurity risks.
    • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and align cross-functional teams around common goals.

 

Anticipated base salary range:  $176,000 - $207,000

 

The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. This position is bonus eligible.
