The position
Offered on a part time basis and reporting to the Senior Management Accountant of the business unit, the Finance Assistant will be responsible for assisting in the preparation and delivery of the management accounts of the Asset Management team for Northern Europe. The ideal candidate will have strong financial acumen, excellent analytical skills and the ability to work to and prioritise multiple tasks and deadlines.
 
Organisational Context
The Asset Management team looks after wind farms, solar and storage plants at the operating stage in the Northern Europe. Within this department, the finance team provides back-office support to the wider Asset Management & Operations team.
 
Accountabilities
  • Preparation of periodic financial reporting and analysis packages for the team on a timely and accurate basis
  • Ensuring that invoicing for AM contracts is correct and up to date (including setting up new projects within the relevant system)
  • Prepare and post month-end journal entries, including accruals, prepayments, and adjustments
  • Assist in the preparation of the annual budget for Asset Management
  • Assist with the year-end audit and liaising with external auditors and tax advisors
  • Assist with the migration of data and processes to the new ERP system
  • Supporting regular queries from the Asset Managers
  • Executing additional tasks to meet changing business needs and departmental objectives
Knowledge
  • Strong aptitude for accounting
Skills
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and accountancy systems skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Proactive, ‘can do’ attitude, with a focus on continuous improvement of reporting and analysis
  • Good communication skills and the confidence and credibility to communicate to external parties
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work autonomously and take initiative when needed
  • Ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Good problem solving skills
  • Ability to articulate financial information to non-finance specialists
  • Attention to detail
Experience
  • Experience of monthly, quarterly and annual management accounting routines within a commercial organisation
  • Experience of using an ERP system (use of Agresso and IFS a distinct advantage but not essential)
  • Experience in communicating with non-financial internal stakeholders would be beneficial
  • Preparation of statutory financial statements would be a distinct advantage but not essential
Qualifications
  • Studying ACA/ACCA/CIMA
  • AAT qualified/part qualified
  • Degree or the equivalent in a finance discipline
