Purpose of Role   
As the Director, Finance (Senior Manager Group Finance), your primary responsibility will be to provide overall leadership of the Group Finance team including delivering the annual financial statements and audit. You will ensure effective financial management of QTC’s accounting processes and key internal controls, with a focus to continuously improve team culture and ways of working.   
  
Responsibilities & Accountabilities   
  • Delivery of the annual financial statements to QTC Board and the Risk & Audit Committee.
  • Build strong internal and external stakeholder relationships and be seen as a trusted advisor.
  • Maintaining the accounting system through effective business processes and internal controls.
  • Deliver high quality financial reporting and advice on business performance to the Board and Managing Directors.
  • Operate an effective account payable function, ensuring vendors are paid within agreed terms.
  • Promote and maintain the external audit relationship with the Queensland Audit Office.
  • Ensure compliance with reporting obligations to Queensland Treasury and other bodies.
  • Collaborate on continuous improvement with a drive to enhance accounting processes and ways of working.
  • Devise the strategy for the Group Finance team and promote a highly engaged workforce consistent with QTC’s Culture and Values.
  • Drive and role model cultural change, through collaboration, coaching and developing team members to grow as individuals.
  • Key finance contact for Change Program initiatives ensuring adherence to accounting standards and financial controls are maintained.
  • Participate and drive strategic initiatives as identified by the Executive Director Finance and/or Chief Operating Officer for the broader organisation.

Qualifications   
Essential   
  • Tertiary qualification and professional practice certification in finance or related discipline
  • CA/CPA qualified or post graduate qualification in finance or related discipline
Desirable   
  • Training, qualification or knowledge of
    • Taxation (FBT, income tax, GST and payroll tax)
    • Funding and markets
    • Knowledge of risk management practices and standards
Experience   
Essential   
  • Proven 10+ years of financial management experience within Financial Services companies, especially those dealing with Australian financial markets and Treasury
  • Advanced analytical skills with a proven ability to identify key insights impacting business performance and strategies to address
  • Financial services experience, risk management practices, and tax compliance matters
  • Exceptional PowerBI, Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Customer focused and results oriented
  • Strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to communicate complex messages
  • Experience in presenting to senior stakeholders including C-suite and Board members (as required)
  • Demonstrate behavioural skills in acting as a thought leader, upholding strong professional and ethical standards
