Purpose of Role 
 
QTC’s Advisory Division is focused on supporting financial sustainability and operational excellence across Queensland’s Government Departments, Local Governments and Government Owned Corporations. The Advisory Division supports and assists these Government entities through management consulting-type services. 
Using our problem solving skills, QTC’s Advisory Division contributes to projects that create meaningful solutions with profound outcomes for Queensland.

This role resides within the Advisory Division’s Education and Skills Team.  The team works closely with the Department of Education, Department of Employment, Small Business and Training and central agencies to execute on government priorities that create better financial outcomes for Queensland.  The team also works collaboratively across the broader Advisory Division, including other social services portfolios, to deliver outcomes for our clients.

Responsibilities & Accountabilities 
  • Working in a team to scope and develop projects for the Education and Skills portfolio
  • Execute projects, by taking ownership and leading parts of the project
  • Perform the following tasks as part of a project: 
    • Define the problem
    • Conduct financial, operational and/or commercial analysis
    • Develop thorough understanding of business processes in order to recommend improvements
    • Undertake financial modelling or be capable of interpreting financial models
    • Synthesise outcomes of your work into written communication, often using slide decks

Qualifications 
  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline
  
Experience 
Essential 
  • Minimum 6 years of employment in roles that demonstrate experience in the listed competency areas
  • Experience in areas such as management consulting, corporate finance, optimising businesses
  • Critical thinking, decision-making and problem-solving skills, including demonstrated ability to effectively diagnose situations and develop creative solutions
  • Engaging and persuasive communication style
