Description

 Palomar Health is looking for a Pre-Doctoral- Psychiatric Student Intern to join their Behavioral Health Team! Palomar Behavioral Health Services provides inpatient and outpatient psychiatric services to the acute and chronic mentally ill adult and senior populations as well as patients who have been diagnosed with substance abuse disorders. 

Intern objectives include, but re not limited to: Gain relevant work experience that effectively complements academic coursework and provides the student with expanded understanding of hospital and health system operations; Develop administrative, organizational, managerial, and analytical skills; Develop an understanding of the organizational structure of Palomar Health; and to allow and enhance continuing education of the student.

Palomar Health is a public community hospital system serving urban and rural communities in the Northern part of San Diego County, California.

Location: Tucked away in beautiful Poway valley on the northern outskirts of the city of San Diego lies the Palomar Medical Center-Poway (about 30 minutes north of San Diego) owned and operated by Palomar Health.  Conveniently located in the heart of San Diego County, Poway enjoys a sunny climate, clean air, a pristine lake and ecological reserves. Known as "The City in the Country," Poway prides itself on having preserved over half of the city's 39.4 square-mile area as dedicated open space.

Status: Full-time (40 hours per week) positions are available as temporary employees of Palomar Health.  All positions are contracted for the duration of one year, which results in 2000 hours of supervised training for this Pre-Doctoral training year.  Start date for the 2022-2023 training year is August 29.                                                             

 

Job Requirements:

Minimum Education: The psychology training program is offered to Pre-Doctoral Psychology (Ph.D. / Psy.D) interns, who are currently enrolled in clinical, health, or forensic psychology graduate programs. The Psychology Training Program is a member of the California Psychology Internship Council (CAPIC.)
