Description
Partner with Senior Physicist to support department clinical and equipment QA program. Perform machine QA on Varian True Beam with Align RT, IDENTIFY, HyperArc, Varian Cones, GammaMed iX HDR afterloader, xStrahl Superficial Therapy Unit and Philips Brilliance Big Bore CT using Dose Lab and Sun Nuclear software. Participate in radiosurgery treatment planning and plan checks using Eclipse, Velocity, Aria, ClearCheck. Attend radiosurgery procedures at the machines to provide physics guidance regarding IGRT and surface guidance implementation and ensure safe workflow. Attend department clinical QA meetings and participate in weekly and closing patient chart QA. Take initiative to read current literature to apply latest knowledge to clinical decision process. Pursue quality improvement projects to support clinical, software and machine quality maintenance initiatives.

Must speak and read English at a level that is sufficient to satisfactorily perform the essential functions of the position. Knowledge of standard office equipment (i.e., calculator, fax, photocopier) and personal computer and computer software skills (i.e., MS Windows, Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, internet, e-mail). Windows computer skills including proficient use of keyboarding, use of mouse or keys for functions such as selecting items, use of drop down menus, scroll bars, opening folders, copying and similar operations required upon employment or within the 1st two weeks of employment to perform the essential functions of the job. Performs other duties as assigned. Follows Palomar Health rules, policies, procedures, applicable laws and standards. Carries out the mission, vision, and quality commitment of Palomar Health.

 

Job Requirements

 

Minimum Education: Master of Science in Physics or related field
Preferred Education: Master of Science in Physics or related field
Minimum Experience: completed residency in Radiation Oncology Physics
Preferred Experience: 3 or more years in Radiation Oncology Physics
Required Certification: Board Eligible
Preferred Certification: Certified Therapeutic Medical Physicist (American Board of Radiology, American Board of Medical Physics or Canadian College of Physicist in Medicine)
Required License: Not Applicable
