Who We’re Looking For:
As a key member of the PLM - R&D team, the Associate Manager, Design for Service Engineering (DFS) will provide critical engineering support throughout the product lifecycle to ensure high-quality service and sustainability. This role focuses on implementing serviceability-driven design strategies for medical devices, emphasizing reliability and efficient maintenance. The Associate Manager, DFS, will collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate serviceability requirements from concept through development, resulting in robust product designs that meet regulatory standards and customer expectations.
About the Role:
- Create and execute Design for Service (DFS) strategies that enhance product innovation and align with engineering goals.
- Define and integrate DFS best practices and guidelines throughout the product lifecycle.
- Lead DFS initiatives, supervise and mentor a team of engineers, and foster a collaborative, innovative culture.
- Conduct serviceability assessments during design reviews to ensure products meet standards for maintenance and repair.
- Analyze field data and service feedback using root cause analysis and other analytical tools to identify improvement opportunities and enhance product reliability.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Operations, and other teams to advocate for long-term serviceability in product design.
- Provide training to engineering teams on DFS principles and develop documentation to promote efficient service and maintenance practices.
- Ensure all service engineering activities align with company quality standards and regulatory requirements.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical, Mechanical, Biomedical, or a related technical field with 9 years of experience, or a Master’s degree with 7 years of relevant engineering experience, including leadership of cross-functional teams in product lifecycle management.
- Strong expertise in Design for Service (DFS) principles and experience in their application within product maintenance and support, with a focus on sustaining engineering and lifecycle management.
- Proficiency in CAD software, FMEA, root cause analysis, and data analysis.
Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to continuous improvement.
Familiarity with regulatory and quality requirements for medical devices, including FDA and ISO 13485 standards.
Effective communication and project management skills for cross-functional collaboration.
