Senior Environmental Manager - Beef
Purpose and Scope/General Summary: We are looking for a Senior Environmental Manager to join our Beef USA team here in Greeley, CO! This person will provide enterprise leadership for environmental conformance and regulatory compliance across U.S. operations. Direct and continuously improve business unit’s Environmental Management System (EMS) aligned with ISO 14001, including responsibility to achieve and maintain ISO 14001 certification across designated facilities (as applicable). Provides functional oversight, assurance, and technical governance for environmental permitting, monitoring, reporting, corrective action, and agency engagement, enabling facility environmental managers/officers teams to execute consistently and maintain audit readiness.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop environmental teams across facilities by standardizing practices, setting expectations, and driving accountability through performance metrics and assurance activities.
- Own and manage the JBS Beef USA Environmental Management System (ISO 14001), including governance, audits, management reviews, continuous improvement, and certification strategy.
- Oversee environmental compliance and assurance programs to maintain regulatory compliance, audit readiness, reporting accuracy, and prevention of permit exceedances.
- Provide technical leadership for environmental programs and partner with Operations, Engineering, Legal, and Sustainability teams to mitigate risks and support enterprise initiatives.
- Lead and govern the JBS Beef USA Environmental Management System (EMS), including corporate standards, documentation, records, and site conformance requirements.
- Manage the ISO 14001 certification program through readiness assessments, internal audits, management reviews, corrective actions, and external certification support.
- Oversee EMS governance and continuous improvement by maintaining core environmental registers, document control processes, and audit programs to ensure sustained compliance and certification readiness.
- Develop and govern corporate environmental standards, permit management processes, and site controls to ensure regulatory compliance, consistency, and effective environmental program execution.
- Lead environmental training, competency, and regulatory monitoring programs, providing implementation guidance and ensuring sites maintain audit-ready records and compliance with evolving requirements.
- Develop and oversee enterprise environmental reporting, compliance dashboards, KPI tracking, and CAPA (Corrective and Preventive Action) management programs that provide leadership with clear visibility into regulatory performance, open findings, recurring issues, corrective action effectiveness, emerging risks, and early-warning indicators to drive proactive decision-making, continuous improvement, and prevention of environmental exceedances.
- Serve as the corporate escalation lead for environmental incidents, regulatory matters, agency interactions, and permit-related issues, partnering with site leadership and Legal to develop response strategies, ensure consistent communications, and mitigate compliance risk.
- Provide environmental governance and technical support for emergency response readiness, chemical release reporting, permitting activities, and capital projects by establishing escalation protocols, maintaining regulatory preparedness, and ensuring environmental requirements are integrated into project planning and execution.
- Drive environmental excellence through successful ISO 14001 certification and sustainment, effective CAPA management, permit compliance, audit readiness, and data-driven reporting that reduces environmental risk, strengthens compliance performance, and provides actionable insights to leadership.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or related discipline (or equivalent directly related experience) strongly preferred.
- Experience in the food industry, preferably meat, required
- 5+ years of senior/upper management experience in the engineering and food manufacturing industry required
- Demonstrated multi-site environmental compliance leadership, including permitting and regulator interface.
- Proven experience implementing/maintaining an ISO 14001 EMS, including internal audits, management review, CAPA, and certification readiness/surveillance support.
- Strong analytical and reporting skills (Excel and enterprise reporting tools); ability to standardize data and processes across sites.
- Strong communication skills and ability to influence facility leadership; willingness to travel to complexes for audits and support.
- Ability to travel up to 50% of the time to Beef USA facilities

The applicant who fills this position will be eligible for the following compensation and benefits:
- Benefits: Vision, Medical, and Dental coverage begin after 60 days of employment;
- Paid Time Off: sick leave, vacation, and 6 company observed holidays;
- 401(k): company match begins after the first year of service and follows the company vesting schedule;
- Base salary range of $150,000-$175,000
- Incentive Pay: This position is eligible to participate in the Company’s annual bonus plan, the amount of bonus varies and is subject to the standard terms and conditions of the incentive program; and

The posted salary range represents the Company’s good faith estimate of the compensation that the Company reasonably expects to pay for this role at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be determined based on factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, skills, qualifications, tenure, internal equity, market data, and may vary accordingly.
