FUNCTION:
The Communication and Networking Manager for Heifer International India will be working for its Accelerating Incomes Project in India. His/her role in the project will be around identifying, capturing/ documenting and sharing innovative, market-driven, and sustainable solutions that will inform research, development, project related communication collaterals, fact sheets, report and positioning documents and presentations.
The Manager will work closely with Heifer International’s India and Global Communications Team and provide support in documentation and dissemination of impact data with appropriate stakeholders. The outputs are communications products that drive the project’s social behavioural change objectives around increasing awareness and education. Also written, audio visual communication and positioning products. It could also include participation in concerned forums, occasions and events.

RESPONSIBILIIES AND DELIVERABLES: (including approximate percentage effort)
Communication Planning and Product Development and Partnership (50%):
• Design and develop communication strategy for the project in compliance with donors’ requirements and institutional and CSR practices, aligned with national communication strategy and in coordination with Heifer International’s Global Communications Team.
• Document and share project progress, achievements, innovative models, and success stories and other project knowledge with relevant internal and external stakeholders.
• Support country teams to plan and organize meetings and events such as project launch, stakeholder meetings, media conferences, and other events as needed.
• Strengthen Heifer’s branding and visibility with government officers and development community (donors and NGOs).
• Develop and nurture partnerships and linkages with NGOs, government agencies and departments, local institutions, and other like-minded organizations to advance the objectives of the project in Andhra Pradesh as well the mission of Heifer International in India.
• Foster and cultivate relationships with the private sector, philanthropic funding community and high-level donors through participation and positioning in relevant industry events.
• Provide resource development intelligence/research on upcoming opportunities and develop recommendations for decisions on next steps.
• Investigate the trend of donor interests and highlight their inclusion/priority in the Heifer model and build the value proposition for approaches to funders.
• Assist in networking with other development organizations, governments, and other line agencies in promoting the Heifer model and developmental initiatives.
• Coordinate regularly with Heifer India country communications team and Heifer International’s Global Communication team on strategy, progress and other areas of priority.
• Good working relationship and linkage is maintained with identified stakeholders such as donors, partners, local NGOs, civil organisations and media contacts.
• Communication plans and activities are implemented on time and within budget.
Rural Marketing, Branding, Mass Media Campaigns and Social Media Marketing (25%):
• Develop a mass media campaign and outreach strategy for the project including content for social media, blogs, and other web-based channels to reach country and global audience.
• Develop key messages and content according to project needs for campaigning through radio, print and electronic media.
• Support the development of messaging and instructions to target different stakeholders, potential partners and other market players.
• Develop, manage and monitor mass media campaign, message dissemination and outreach strategies while coordinating with communication focal points of the project, plugging into multi-country strategy.
Managing Communication Materials (10%):
• Ensure both proactive and reactive communication to stakeholders concerning positioning opportunities for the project and events.
• Develop and maintain project information, stakeholder database, communication records and networking files while maintaining confidentiality of data.
Knowledge management and organization learning and exchange processes (15%):
• Secure coverage in relevant newspapers and journals.
• Facilitate capacity building program for country staff on communication practices, channels, platforms and products.
• Developing and sharing Situational Reports in case of disasters or natural calamities.
• Following and communicating change in state level policies and guidelines affecting project or functioning of the implementing agencies.
• Ensuring that the organization and project participants are well conversant with the project intervention.
• Facilitate capacity development needs in communications and train staff in the use of communication equipment, writing skills, media relations, etc.
• Create, plan and implement fundraising strategies and activities, building from and expanding upon the success of current private and public partnership efforts.
• Attending to both internal and external project communication.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
• Bachelors’ degree in Public Relations, Mass Communications, Development Studies, Business Management or related field, plus at least 5 to 7 years of related experience.
• Master’s degree in a similar field preferred with at least 5 years of practical working experience in communication and networking.
• Prior knowledge and experience in the field of social development, Behavioural Change and Communications, fund raising, and networking will be preferred
• Prior working experience supporting agricultural or nutrition-related research and development will be an added advantage.

• Digital proficiency and knowledge on in word processing, spreadsheets, presentation tools, email, and computer software (Microsoft Office preferred).
• Conversant with communication, report development, video, and photo editing tools and programs
• Demonstrated proficiency in English and Telugu.
• Preparing presentation and presenting documents in a well-designed and attractive format with superior attention to detail.
