Job Summary:

Site Manager – Outage is responsible for preparation, planning, leading execution, and close out of complex project/outages events for gas turbine, steam turbine and generator power plants while supporting the development of the business strategy for field fulfilment excellence in FieldCore. The Site Manager – Outage is a focal role, with accountability for leading and managing the site organization and scope of site activities for the project in order to achieve successful completion of the site works as per contractual requirements within budget, on time, in scope and maintaining required levels of quality and EHS for the fulfilment of the Customers and GE expectations. He/She will lead complex project/outages for their assigned Countries or location(s) wherever possible. The role also coordinates the work with suppliers who provide specialist services, monitoring activities in compliance with EHS regulations, organizing the work activities and signal unsecure situations and promote working safely.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Manages complex outage event preparation (Planned/Emergent/Upgrade) from start to finish, including outage schedule development, TFA/craft labor/tooling/cost planning, customer management - pre/post outage meetings, mobilization planning, JCE execution, and event close out
  • Owns onsite execution (site lead) with large teams during assigned outages, ensuring Safety Quality Delivery and Cost (SQDC) goals and requirements are met.
  • Manages on job cost tracking, productivity, while managing execution risk/FMEA and any NU/Service warranty
  • Drives improvement of on-time delivery, outage cost and productivity, implementation, effectively update and maintain accurate tracking files, control man hour cost and pacing
  • Attends all site coordination meetings.
  • Sets up a clear plan of communication with customer/partner, subcontractorsand ensures that site work activities are reported daily to customer and GE
  • Providing the focal point of contact for the project manager, customer, partner, subcontractor and local authorities
  • The overall management and leadership of the GE site staff.
  • Management of Subcontractor Companies: manpower, O&M specialists, (when applicable), cost tracking.
  • Ensures proper execution documentation is prepared, used, reviewed, stored and delivered including, Field Procedures, Quality Procedures and Assurance Documentation, EHS, and Customer Outage Reports.
  • Supports the establishment of the Quality Management System at site
  • Works with web systems applications for proper allocation, preparation, planning and forecasting of labor, tooling, vendor management
  • Ensures all reports and drawing “marked-up” are completed.
  • Ensures the application of applicable EHS safety rules.
  • Resolution of site non-conformances. Ensures non-conformances are communicated and managed through company tool with the appropriate HQs interfaces
  • Controls punch list closure – zero punch item target at COD
  • Takes necessary actions to maintain high site morale and proper business conduct as per GE policies requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Ability and willingness to work holidays, weekends and overtime as required by field assignments
  • Travel will be required

Required Qualifications & Experience:

  • Four-year degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Equivalent of + 10 years’ experience in the field
  • Prior applicable experience and demonstrated success/knowledge on gas/steam turbine or generator maintenance (depending on needs)
  • Demonstrated progressive, responsible experience with various types of turbine generator equipment and site accountabilities is required.

Desired Characteristics:

  • Expert level. Able to act as a senior company rep on any outage for the unit qualified. Acts as project manager and mentor on complex projects
  • Strong Project Management and planning skills (Primavera scheduling tool preferred)
  • PC proficiency, web applications including advanced Excel skills
  • Able to interface effectively with all levels of the organization and external customers
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills and influencing skill
  • Experience with modeling and analysis programs for gas turbines.
  • Proficient in the use of computers and PC software.
  • Excellent customer, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Fluent in English language.
