Job Summary

The Tooling EHS Specialist is responsible for ensuring compliance with Global Tooling EHS Protocol, EHS & Quality policies, and regulatory standards. Communicates and contributes to the development of EHS programs, conducts audits and inspections, and analyzes data and employee experience to provide recommendations for improving processes and operational goals. Provides subject matter expertise in the development and implementation of standard work. Acts as an agent of change, partnering with Operations and Quality to drive a culture of continuous improvement.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Manage region and business specific EHS responsibilities at multiple tooling facilities in accordance with local laws, including Compliance Assurance Permit Review, Facilities Safety and Security, Chemical and Waste Management
  • Ensure all personnel and employees are informed of safe working procedures and practices such that they can fulfill their responsibilities, administering EHS training as needed
  • Manage required compliance activities, including the implementation of in-country legislation and FC EHS requirements and standards
  • Support proper and effective use of Gensuite Benchmark System applications, including Profiler, Compliance Calendar, Concern Reporting/Hazard Hunt, Reg Auditor, Action Tracking System, and Incident Reporting
  • Conduct weekly or biweekly EHS meetings with all region/sub-region tooling personnel. Maintain record of agenda and attendance
  • Review and share global EHS event data including but not limited to injuries, illnesses, inspections, concern reports, near misses, vehicle accidents, and internal/external awards, etc.
  • Prepare tool center specific Emergency Response Plans and support Business Continuity Plans. Ensure drills are conducted and improvements implemented as necessary
  • Lead incident investigations and support coordination of employee care. Report findings and coordinate corrective and preventative action in accordance with Incident Investigation procedure
  • Conduct and analyze root causes of incidents to determine causal factors and determine safety measures to prevent future incidents and influence the implementation of corrective actions
  • Support execution of Risk Management program, including Task Risk Assessments, Point of Work Risk Assessments, Risk Reduction Projects, and Knowledge Management Community
  • Support the Tooling Improvement Management of Change process, including providing insight to the development of global action plans and implementation of change within the tool centers
  • Conduct EHS MOC Screening and Rooftop Commissioning/Decommissioning evaluation for any changes proposed to Tooling facilities or equipment
  • Support execution of the Contractor Management program, including ComplyWorks approval verification, risk mitigation planning, site orientation, contractor incident reporting, and performance evaluations
  • Act as liaison with landlords for facilities safety and security issues
  • Support execution of the Quality Management program, including NCR reporting and response, development and execution of Work Instructions and Standard Maintenance Protocols
  • Recommend innovative solutions and process improvements across multiple areas to increase efficiency and productivity, such as 5S, Leader Standard Work, Daily Management, Kaizen, etc.
  • Partner with Operations Leadership to ensure employee headcount is accurate for work hours reporting, that EHS Training assignments are correct, and training completions are properly recorded
  • Support coordination of Task-Specific training assignments, timely execution, and recordkeeping
  • Partner with EHS Management to support understanding of tooling operations and capabilities to aid in effective risk reduction efforts
  • Provide subject matter expertise in the development and implementation of standard work
  • Engage business legal counsel when there is a request for response to regulator contact
  • May be assigned other duties to help proactively drive our FieldCore vision and align with our organization’s core values.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

  • HS Diploma, or equivalent
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in Tooling Operations and demonstrate deep understanding of Environment, Health & Safety management system and processes
  • English proficiency required
  • Ability and willingness to travel regionally with minimal notice
  • Ability and willingness to perform all duties and responsibilities within one or more of the Tooling Centers/Facilities

Desired Characteristics:

  • Bachelors or 4-year degree from an accredited university or college in EHS, Operations, Engineering, Science, Business Administration, Management, or related field preferred
  • Strong knowledge of GE Power Services and/or FieldCore operations and business model
  • Deep understanding of EHS, risk and compliance with experience executing EHS excellence
  • High energy, self-starter, organized, with the ability to manage multiple priorities at once
  • Strong writing skills; comfortable writing technical documents and general EHS communications
  • Strong listening skills; able to drive a positive employee relations culture
  • Experience with lean principles and tools
  • Ability to prepare accurate reports containing findings/recommendations and perform a wide variety of duties and responsibilities with accuracy and speed under the pressure of time sensitive deadlines
  • Qualified operator and authorized trainer for Powered Industrial Trucks and Basic Cranes & Rigging
  • Certification in EHS, such as CSP, ASP, CMIOSH, NEBOSH etc.
  • Lead Investigator qualification (TAPROOT or similar methodology)
  • Lead Auditor qualification (ISO 9001 & 14001 & OHSAS 18001, or internal auditor qualification)

Compensation and Benefits:

The weekly salary range for this position is 1,163.46 to 1,917.30.  This is an exempt from overtime position.  Additional compensation may be paid when employees exceed 40 billable hours in a week.  FieldCore benefits include medical insurance.  Eligibility for FieldCore benefits is determined under the terms of the applicable benefits plan.
