Who we are looking for:  

First Eagle (“the Firm”) is seeking an experienced Risk Specialist to join our Risk Management team in New York. The Risk Management team is responsible for providing independent risk oversight and advice to business units, as well as risk analysis to support the Firm’s strategic goals. The successful candidate will become an integral part of the team covering both investment and operational risks.   

What you will do:   

  • Monitor and report on firmwide exposure by counterparty, issuer, country, etc. against internal risk limits or trigger indicators; perform risk surveillance around liquidity and default risks
  • Perform daily portfolio risk monitoring across existing portfolios using applicable metrics, investigate when the metrics exceed internally defined or regulatory thresholds, escalate as needed
  • Conduct periodic stress testing and scenario analysis to detect extreme yet plausible circumstances that may impact the Firm’s portfolios
  • Set up framework to demonstrate and track stylistic features of various investment strategies and to monitor dispersion across different portfolios within the same strategy 
  • Conduct ad hoc analysis when seeing unexpected results from ongoing risk monitoring or to provide forward-looking view given anticipated market changes
  • Support the maintenance and continued improvement of the Firm’s risk management framework, including key risk indicators and dashboard reporting
  • Effectively engage with Legal and Compliance teams and provide risk-related support, such as regulatory compliance, new product/fund launching, and best-practice initiatives 
  • Respond to inquiries from clients, regulators, auditors, or 3rd party relations with regard to the Firm’s risk management practice


The qualities you should have:  

  • Undergraduate degree in finance, economics, financial engineering, or related field
  • CFA and/or FRM preferred
  • 7+ years' relevant work experience with an investment management firm in risk management or with an analytics provider (e.g., Bloomberg, Factset, MSCI) supporting buyside firms on investment or risk analysis
  • Knowledge of risk characteristics and technics across equities, fixed income (including leveraged loans, securitized products, real estate), and derivatives; knowledge of private debt helpful; familiarity with US 40 Act regulations required
  • Proven quantitative and analytical skills combined with control-oriented mindset; good understanding of key operational aspects and workflows at an investment management firm
  • Proficiency in Bloomberg, FactSet, MSCI Risk Manager (aka RiskMetrics)
  • Proactive with intellectual curiosity, can-do attitude, and strong sense of responsibility
  • Collegial and collaborative team player with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent communication skills; ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with internal stakeholders



Base Salary range: $140,000 to $180,000. In addition, this role is eligible for an annual incentive bonus. Compensation may vary based upon, but not limited to – the individual's skills, experience, qualifications, and internal equity.
