This is a unique and exciting opportunity at the intersection of communications planning and media strategy for a world-leading medicine brand. In this highly collaborative role, you will develop insight-based, outstanding holistic communications plans and work closely with the media planning team, media partners and clients to turn innovative ideas into original activations.

Position of the role     
Your role will be to help EssenceMediacom consistently deliver the most innovative and effective work in the industry. You will ‘connect the dots’ working with different specialist teams on diverse projects ranging from developing thought leadership to designing an audience targeting approach to establishing robust KPI frameworks.    
Responsibilities of the role:    
  • Analyze consumer panel data, market reports and industry trends to generate compelling strategic insights as the basis for communications strategies
  • Develop strategic direction for campaigns and work with the planning team to land campaign strategy to distinctive and compelling media activation ideas
  • Establish KPIs and measurement approach based on campaign objectives
  • Keep up-to-date with media trends and platform innovations, and establish good working relationships with major media partners to push innovative media activations for our client
  • Collaborate closely with the EssenceMediacom insights, business science, social, search and planning teams to answer client briefs and to proactively develop, manage and analyze research projects
  • Work together with the planning team to develop competitive studies, end-of-campaign reports and periodical performance reviews with clear learnings and strategic recommendations
  • Develop and facilitate workshops, both internal & with clients

In three months:     
  • Learned how to use various data and insights tools, e.g. eTelmar and ad tracking databases
  • Understood the roles and offerings of the different teams and specialists within EssenceMediacom and GroupM
  • Built an understanding of the diverse media market, channels & vendors in China
  • Supported your manager and the team to deliver client projects
  • Measurement
  • Quickly be familiar with internal planning and functional teams.
  • Establish trusted relationship with planning team
  • Attend GroupM and media roadshows to stay up-to-date on media trends
In six months:    
  • Met with all your clients and established yourself as a key contact person
  • Become a trusted partner to your seniors and your peers
  • Played a crucial role in developing media strategies and activations
  • Worked with major media partners to turn ideas into reality

  • Provide the direction in campaign proposals
  • Develop key learnings from competitive reviews and campaign results
  • Establish effective way of working with planning team and other disciplines
In 12 months:     
  • Led campaign strategy development with minimal supervision
  • Created award-worthy campaign activations that are recognized as ‘best-in-class’
  • Identified at least one area of thought leadership and created provocative content to build EssenceMediacom’s reputation with clients
  • Measurement:
  • Build up strong strategic thinking with commercial sense
  • Deliver innovative campaign execution
  • Initiate thought leadership project
What you will need:    
  • Mindset is crucial to success in this role. We’re looking for an open-minded, ambitious individual with a ‘can-do’ attitude and willingness to try new things. You will have a desire not just to develop great strategic thinking, but also to help our planners turn it into award-winning executions across any channel
  • You will have solid strategic and problem-solving capabilities as well as a strong grasp of how media works. This means you may work in a strategy role at another media agency or you may be a dynamic, experienced media planner looking to move into a more strategic role
  • You’ll be passionate about making great work happen and be excited about the opportunities data has to drive both effectiveness and creativity on plans. You will have the ability to fuse qualitative and quantitative thinking, simplifying the complex to story tell clear solutions
  • Fluent written and spoken English and Chinese are a must – you will be working closely with foreign clients as well as local media partners
