As a Senior Advisor, Incident Management, you will play a critical role in shaping a proactive safety culture by applying causal investigation methodologies to analyze incidents, uncover systemic issues, and recommend sustainable solutions. You will engage and advise senior leadership with confidence, and present findings that drive organizational learning and risk reduction. Additionally, you will lead the development and continuous improvement of EPCOR’s investigation methodology and best practices.

What You’ll Do

 

Reporting to the Manager, Health & Safety – Shared Services, you will play a key role in supporting EPCOR’s health and safety strategic goals, with specific focus on incident management responsibilities:

  • Leading and supporting incident investigations using Causal Analysis methodologies.
  • Facilitating root cause analysis sessions that emphasize learning rather than blame.
  • Collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data to identify trends and systemic factors contributing to incidents.
  • Developing clear, actionable recommendations that address both system and behavioral causes to enhance operational resilience and reduce risk.
  • Monitoring the effectiveness of implemented corrective actions.
  • Providing training and coaching on causal reasoning and investigation techniques to internal stakeholders.
  • Maintaining accurate documentation and ensuring compliance with regulatory and company standards.
  • Supporting the development of the incident management program.
  • Assisting the Manager, Health & Safety - Shared Services with strategic work plans, initiatives, goals, and statistical targets.
  • Providing advice to the Senior Leadership Team and Executives that shape the strategic decisions and positioning for EPCOR’s Energy business outlook, considering risks, stakeholders, and the regulatory environment

 

What’s required to be successful:

 

The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications, experience and behaviours:

 

 

Required (Must Haves):

  • A Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, Operational Excellence, Change Management, or a related field from a recognized postsecondary institution.
  • 5–8+ years of experience that may include:
    • Leading complex incident investigations using causal analysis methodologies.
    • Engaging and advising senior leadership and other stakeholders with confidence and professionalism.
    • Conducting research, analysis and trend identification of complex events or incidents to drive process or system improvements.
    • Managing cross-functional projects and teams to deliver safety outcomes.
    • Building strong relationships with field employees and subject matter experts, fostering EPCOR’s safety culture.
    • An understanding of HSE principles and regulatory frameworks and integration with broader operational functions.
  • Proficiency in Causal Investigation methodologies.
  • Strong capability in risk analysis and development of mitigation strategies.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Experience in creating and delivering training materials.

 

Assets (Nice-to-Haves):

  • CRSP/CRST designation
  • Incident Investigation certificate
    • Candidates who do not currently hold this certification will be expected to obtain it within 12 months of hire.
  • Experience conducting incident investigations, root cause analysis, and audits
