Wastewater Collection Maintenance is hiring up to two permanent Labourer 2 positions at the Aurum site.

 

This role primarily supports the Wastewater Collections (WWC) Inspections crews with daytoday maintenance of the wastewater collection system. You may also work with other WWC Maintenance teams as needed. This is skilled work that involves helping operate and maintain heavy-duty cleaning and inspection equipment. The work is performed with limited supervision, following written and verbal instructions from an Equipment Operator 3.

What you’d be responsible for

The Labourer 2 reports to the Manager of Wastewater Collection Inspections and will:

 

  • Assist Equipment Operator 3s with daily activities such as highpressure flushing, clearing plugged mainlines, pumping catch basins, responding to drainage emergencies, conducting CCTV sewer inspections, and performing condition assessments.
  • Complete maintenance on stormwater management facilities and operate related equipment used in maintaining the wastewater collection system.
  • Perform routine labour tasks to support the operation and upkeep of MTV units and other WWC equipment.
  • Conduct daily inspections, lubrication, and minor maintenance on equipment.
  • Provide occasional guidance or training to new or lessexperienced Labourers.
  • Communicate and escalate issues to the appropriate Team Leader when needed.
  • Report asset and equipment deficiencies using IVARA, GeoFit, and other tools.
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of tools, equipment, materials, and drainage systems, with the ability to rate up to Equipment Operator 3.
  • Work standby on a rotational basis to meet operational needs.
  • Work various shifts—day, afternoon, or night—as required.

 

What’s required to be successful

  • High school diploma (GED, or equivalent secondary education).
  • Alberta Environment Water or Wastewater Collection Certification – Level 1.
    • If you don’t yet have Level 1, you must actively work toward completing it within 24 months.
  • Valid Class 5 Alberta Driver’s License and ability to maintain an EPCOR driver’s permit:
    • Maximum of 6 demerits at time of hire.
    • Prior unsafedriving infractions may result in nonselection.
    • A 5year commercial Driver Abstract is required if one is not already on file.
    • GDL holders may be considered (maximum of 3 demerits; subject to driving behaviour review).
  • One year of experience in water and/or wastewater collection system maintenance is an asset.
  • Completion of all required Water Services compliance training.
  • Intermediate computer skills, including IVARA, GeoFit, SWP App, MS Office (Word, Outlook, Excel), and Granite.
  • Solid understanding of safe operating practices, methods, and equipment.
  • Proven ability to operate equipment safely and in compliance with laws and regulations.
