Maintenance Operator I, II, or III – Exciting Career Opportunity
Become a key part of EPCOR’s Maintenance team and help ensure safe, reliable water and wastewater services for the communities we serve. In this role, you’ll support the operation and upkeep of water plants, well sites, and wastewater facilities while working alongside experienced professionals committed to safety, quality, and service. You’ll report to a Lead Operator, Foreman, or Supervisor and contribute to keeping essential infrastructure running smoothly and sustainably.
What You’ll Do
- Operate, maintain, and repair plant process equipment—including pumps, motors, chlorinators, and chemical feed systems—to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
- Collaborate closely with team members across Maintenance and Operations.
- Complete tasks and projects assigned through CMMS work orders or verbal instructions with accuracy and timeliness.
- Perform troubleshooting, repairs, and component replacements to support water production and treatment systems.
- Work safely in environments involving dust, pollen, hazardous chemicals (chlorine, sulfuric acid, sodium hydroxide), fumes, sewage matter, and varying water conditions, including extreme heat.
- Carry out additional responsibilities as assigned.
What You’ll Need to Succeed
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Working knowledge of maintenance methods, practices, and techniques for plant and well equipment, distribution facilities, and wastewater systems.
- Familiarity with preventive maintenance, equipment troubleshooting, and Cla-Val troubleshooting.
- Ability to use Word, Outlook, Excel, and other computer programs as needed.
- Understanding of safety practices, including confined space, fall protection, LOTO procedures, and chemical safety.
- Capability to lift up to 75 lbs., climb ladders, and work on uneven terrain.
Minimum Requirements by Level
All levels require a High School Diploma (or equivalent) and a valid Arizona Driver’s license class D.
Maintenance Operator I:
- Minimum one year of experience in water pump operations or water distribution/water reclamation systems.
Maintenance Operator II:
- Minimum two years of experience in equipment maintenance and repair involving pumps, valves, and motors in an industrial setting.
- Grade 1 certification in water or wastewater.
Maintenance Operator III:
- Minimum four years of water, wastewater, or industrial maintenance experience.
- Must be able to demonstrate welding ability with steel piping and fabrication.
- Welding certification is preferred.
- Grade 2 certification in water or wastewater treatment.
