About the role:
As a Sr. Staff Firmware Engineer, you will be part of the Product Engineering team, who are responsible for maintaining and improving existing products throughout their lifecycle, including firmware fixes and performance enhancements. Essentially ensuring a product remains functional, meets customer needs by troubleshooting customer issues, and implementing continuous improvement strategies to optimize product performance and ensure products remain compliant with relevant industry regulations and standards.
What you will do:
- Designing and implementing Power electronics and Embedded firmware for real-time operation and control.
- Simulating new algorithms for autonomous microgrid power flow management.
- Developing unit and system test software.
- Own, Support and maintain the firmware for legacy inverters in the field.
- Power electronics and embedded firmware bug fix and corrective actions implementations.
- Validating algorithms using system simulation tools.
- Working with hardware engineers to test and troubleshoot prototype designs.
- Firmware testing (DVT).
- Passionate in field quality improvement and cost reduction through VAVE (Value Analysis and Value Engineering) through firmware.
- Performance test products and sub-systems
- Assist product compliance engineers to achieve global certifications for our products.
- Specify engineering requirements, create test plans and generate test reports
- Raise the bar for technical excellence, accurate documentation and scientific rigor
- Provide subject matter expertise at an advanced level
- Keen to work in product enhancement and support team for power electronics products
Who you are and what you bring:
- B.E. and 12+ years’ experience outside of university or
- Masters and 10+ years.
Candidates must have:
- Expertise in C++, C, and Assembly (8051) for real-time applications.
- Able to understand and implement digital signal processing (DSP) concepts in a microprocessor environment.
- Ability to technically lead the team & mentor junior engineers.
- Familiarity with evaluating CPU versus hardware processing requirements and trade-offs for cost-effective designs.
- Ability to troubleshoot firmware related issues within complex systems.
- Ability to test code and hardware both with and without external test equipment such as oscilloscopes, power meters, etc.
- Familiarity with software development processes. E.g., Agile, Structured, Object Oriented, etc.
- Familiarity with development tools such as GCC, GDB, Eclipse, GNU Make, etc.
- Familiarity with software code management tools such as GIT, Mercurial, etc.
- Ability to carry a design task from concept to implementation.
- Ability to document engineering requirements, document solutions, and test new firmware designs.
