FLSA STATUS: Exempt

SALARY RANGE: The anticipated salary range for this role is $63,000 to $93,500 in Huntsville AL an $68,750 to $102,250 per year in San Luis Obispo. This range reflects a good faith estimate based on the targeted level for the role and typical compensation benchmarks across U.S. locations. Actual compensation may vary depending on the selected candidate’s qualifications, experience, geographical location, and internal alignment.

 

SUMMARY

Edge Autonomy is looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Assistant Facility Security Officer to enhance our team, focusing on the industrial security aspects of Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) technology. We seek a self-starter who thrives in a mission-oriented environment, showing initiative and willingness to contribute wherever needed. The candidate will be responsible for assisting the Corporate Facility Security Officer, managing personnel security clearance actions, conducting security training, and collaborating closely with engineering and product development teams to ensure compliance with security regulations. The role requires someone who can clearly communicate complex security matters while providing exceptional support. This position reports to the Corporate Facility Security Officer.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

The following job functions are a basic requirement but are not limited to and may be assigned other duties.

  • Assist in day-to-day security operations in alignment with NISPOM (32 CFR Part 117), SEAD 3, and DD254 requirements.
  • Administer personnel security clearance actions, including initiation, tracking, and processing via DISS, NBIS, and SWFT.
  • Conduct onboarding, initial briefings, annual refreshers, and debriefings for cleared and uncleared personnel.
  • Assist in the review and processing of subcontractor DD254s.
  • Provide guidance to employees on proper security operations within Edge Autonomy Facilities.
  • Provide security training and awareness to all employees.
  • Participate in security self-assessments and DCSA reviews.
  • Support investigations of security incidents and help implement corrective actions.
  • Work with customers and security representatives to resolve issues and support classified contracts.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

The following are a non-exhaustive list of qualifications for the position:

  • This position requires US citizenship and an active DOD Security Clearance.
  • Associate’s Degree or Equivalent.
  • 5+ years of experience supporting DOD and IC security programs under the governance of 32 CFR Part 117 (NISPOM), ICDs, SEADs, and Executive Orders.
  • Strong working knowledge of 32 CFR Part 117 (NISPOM) and applicable security regulations.
  • Ability to perform complex tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency in DISS/NBIS/NISS/SWFT accounts.
  • Proficient in report writing and incident response planning.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice, Homeland Security, Security Management, or related field.
  • Completed CDSE FSO Possessing and Non-Possessing Courses.
  • Expert knowledge of 32 CFR Part 117 (NISPOM) and DOD Security Regulations.
  • Proficiency in supporting DOD UAS operations and security procedures.
  • Pervious Industrial Security Experience as an AFSO or Security Assistant.
  • Expert knowledge of the various DCSA Systems of Record (DISS/NBIS/NISS/SWFT/eAPP)
  • Working knowledge of requirements within Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC).

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS

This position may require access to information that is subject to compliance with the International Traffic Arms Regulations (“ITAR”) and/or the Export Administration Regulations (“EAR”). WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The work environment may involve a standard office setting while also incorporating elements of a production area. Employees will use standard office equipment, including computers, and must demonstrate stamina to sit or stand while maintaining attention to detail despite potential interruptions. The role may require occasional activities such as walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and bending. Vision is necessary for reading printed materials and a computer screen, while hearing and speech are essential for effective communication both in person and over the telephone. Additionally, the position may necessitate travel by air or automobile. Employees may be required to use personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coats, to ensure safety in the production environment. Employees may be able to lift up to 30 pounds as needed.
