SALARY RANGE: The anticipated salary range for this role is $141,000 to $164,000 annually. This range reflects a good faith estimate based on the targeted level for the role and typical compensation benchmarks across U.S. locations. Actual compensation may vary depending on the selected candidate’s qualifications, experience, geographical location, and internal alignment.
SUMMARY
The Senior IS & Cyber Security Engineer is a mid-level technical role responsible for independently executing information systems and cybersecurity tasks that support secure engineering, product development, and operational environments for unmanned aircraft systems (UAS). This role builds on foundational IS and cyber skills and expands into ownership of defined systems, implementation and maintenance of security controls, routine compliance execution, and troubleshooting of complex security and system issues with minimal supervision.
The Senior IS & Cyber Security Engineer partners with engineering, IT, and security teams to maintain system availability, security posture, and compliance with internal policies and applicable regulatory frameworks. This role represents a fully contributing technical specialist progressing toward senior-level cyber and information systems authority.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The following job functions are a basic requirement but are not limited to and may be assigned other duties.
- Independently administer and maintain assigned information systems, endpoints, or secure environments.
- Implement, monitor, and maintain cyber security controls in accordance with approved security plans and procedures.
- Perform routine security monitoring, log review, and vulnerability scanning; track and support remediation activities.
- Manage user access, permissions, and role-based controls across assigned systems.
- Execute patching, configuration updates, and system hardening activities.
- Troubleshoot and resolve routine IS and cybersecurity issues involving access, configuration, or system behavior.
- Support compliance execution by maintaining documentation, evidence, and control artifacts.
- Assist with incident response activities, including initial investigation, containment actions, and documentation.
- Collaborate with engineering, IT, and program teams to support secure system integration and operation.
- Contribute to improvement of IS and cybersecurity procedures, checklists, and documentation.
- Provide informal guidance to Associate (I & II) IS & Cyber Specialists and Engineers as needed.
- Assumes all other responsibilities as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
The following are a non-exhaustive list of qualifications for the position:
- Bachelor of Science in Cyber Security Engineering, Information Systems or equivalent.
- 4+ years of experience in related fields
- Experience supporting environments subject to regulatory or compliance frameworks (e.g., NIST-based controls).
- Experience hardening systems via the deployment of STIGs
- Experience with configuration management processes
- Solid understanding of operating systems, networking fundamentals, and system administration concepts.
- Working knowledge of cybersecurity principles, access control models, and system hardening practices.
- Familiarity with security tools such as SIEM platforms, endpoint protection, or identity management systems.
- Basic scripting or automation experience to support system or security tasks.
- Experience with vulnerability scanning, patch management, or security monitoring tools.
- Ability to interpret and apply documented security requirements and procedures.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Prior exposure to aerospace, defense, safety critical systems or government-related technical environments.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The work environment may involve a standard office setting while also incorporating elements of a production area. Employees will use standard office equipment, including computers, and must demonstrate stamina to sit or stand while maintaining attention to detail despite potential interruptions. The role may require occasional activities such as walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and bending. Vision is necessary for reading printed materials and a computer screen, while hearing and speech are essential for effective communication both in person and over the telephone. Additionally, the position may necessitate travel by air or automobile. Employees may be required to use personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coats, to ensure safety in the production environment. Employees may be able to lift up to 30 pounds as needed.
