FLSA STATUS: Exempt

SALARY RANGE: The anticipated salary range for this role is $100,000 to $130,000 annually. This range reflects a good faith estimate based on the targeted level for the role and typical compensation benchmarks across U.S. locations. Actual compensation may vary depending on the selected candidate’s qualifications, experience, geographical location, and internal alignment.

 

SUMMARY

The Senior Product Engineer for Defender Systems manages the product lifecycle for Solid Oxide Fuel Cell (SOFC) Power Generators produced by Redwire Defense Tech and used in Small Uncrewed Aerial Vehicle applications.  This position engages the R&D and manufacturing engineering teams to release and manage SOFC and SOFC-Supporting products, performs verification test activities, updates product requirements based on customer input, and works with the manufacturing and purchasing teams to improve product design, manufacturability, and quality. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

The following job functions are a basic requirement but are not limited to and may be assigned other duties. 

  • Perform ongoing validation testing based on product requirements. 
  • Generate engineering and manufacturing documentation as needed (DFMEA, DVPR, Drawings, PFMEA, Work Instructions, Product Data Sheets, Operations Manuals). 
  • Act as the product expert with internal and external customers. 
  • Work closely with R&D team to design, validate, and implement product ideas. 
  • Work with Manufacturing Engineers to develop Quality Control measures to ensure ongoing product reliability. 
  • Work with Global Support and Field Service Group to analyze and advise on field corrective actions. 
  • Work with purchasing to select alternate parts as the supply chain shifts, or in response to changes in customer requirements. 
  • Lead products from development through manufacturing release and obsolescence. 
  • Execute projects as directed by senior staff 
  • Assist and direct junior staff as necessary 
  • Be self-motivated, with a drive to complete projects and document results. 

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with Fuel Cells, Portable Generators, or DC Power electronics desired 
  • 4-7 years’ experience  in Product Development, Product Management or Product Testing 
  • Lifecycle analysis experience 
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with customers and manage deliverables, risk, and expectations. 
  • Ability to manage time, meet deadlines, and multi-task 
  • Highly organized, reliable, and resourceful 
  • Flexible to travel to suppliers or customer locations as required. 
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint  
  • CAD (SolidWorks) experience preferred 

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • BS in Engineering or related field

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The work environment may involve a standard office setting while also incorporating elements of a production area. Employees will use standard office equipment, including computers, and must demonstrate stamina to sit or stand while maintaining attention to detail despite potential interruptions. The role may require occasional activities such as walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and bending. Vision is necessary for reading printed materials and a computer screen, while hearing and speech are essential for effective communication both in person and over the telephone. Additionally, the position may necessitate travel by air or automobile. Employees may be required to use personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coats, to ensure safety in the production environment. Employees may be able to lift up to 30 pounds as needed.
