Dynacare is looking for a Senior Manager to join our  team in Brampton,ON.

The Senior Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the successful operation of the Core Lab (Specimen Processing, Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology) on the afternoon and night shift, in accordance with Dynacare’s strategic and operating plans. The includes operational management, fostering a culture of safety, quality and internal and external customer service by developing programs and policies that consistently promote safety, service, quality and customer satisfaction. Responsible for building great teams through a strong focus on people leader development, positive employee relations and creating a work environment that supports the supports the Dynacare Difference.

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the development of the core lab budget, including the preparation, justification and administration of annual staffing and operating expenditures, through accurate forecasting and administration of the prepared budget.
  • Establish performance goals and objectives for the core lab, in line with the company’s strategic objectives and annual goals.
  • Keep informed of new trends, developments, laws and regulations, and technology with respect to the health care industry and related discipline, and movement of competitors and external clients.
  • Develop strategies to maintain efficient operation of the lab while maintaining and fostering a strong team environment.
  • Monitor core lab metric reviews to ensure key indicators of cost, quality, delivery, safety, and customer experience are being met or exceeded and review corrective actions where required.
  • In conjunction with the Director, approve the implementation of new procedures, projects, installations or equipment based on analysis and recommendations.
  • Proactively engage in recognition activities with the team; be a strong advocate for the Achievers recognition program.
  • Administer human resource programs to help foster an environment of positive employee relations, empowerment and involvement while working in compliance with established human resources policies and practices.
  • Develop evolving training programs for new hires and existing team members.
  • Develop, implement and review control mechanisms and processes to ensure compliance to policies, standards, regulatory requirements and Dynacare requirements and to ensure mitigation of risks.
  • Work collaboratively cross-functional/change initiatives related to the achievement of KPIs
  • Establish and maintain standardized processes, procedures and systems in the core lab, where applicable
  • Constantly review and implement new processes to drive continuous improvement in the operation.
  • Participate in and implement health and safety programs and activities such as training, communication, inspection, investigation and general safety promotion.

Must Have: 

  • Undergraduate degree or specialization in a health care field, or equivalent experience related to the position
  •  5+ years Leadership experience in a high paced environment
  • Experience in Molecular testing 
  • Experienced people manager with the ability to develop talent and building high performing teams
  •  Knowledge of interpersonal skills and techniques to interact effectively with direct reports and others     
  •  Knowledge of all applicable laboratory regulatory requirements
  •  Proficient computer skills (MS Office and applicable software applications)
  •  Effective communication skills and work effectively with all levels of management and non-management employees
  • CMLTO registered Medical Laboratory Technologist, in good standing or equivalent preferred
  • Demonstrated success at building relationships and collaborating with a network of internal and external colleagues and subject matter experts.
  •  Superior oral and written communication skills, strong decision-making skills and a keen attention to detail.
  • Conduct regular and consistent communication meetings with Managers, to ensure consistency of information and attainment of goals and objectives.
  • Work in partnership with Managers on IDPs, development plans and elevating both the development and collaboration of direct reports
  • Provide managerial leadership to direct reports including ongoing feedback, performance evaluation, coaching, and recognition.
  • In-depth knowledge of statistics and management reports.
  • Experience in applying project management principles and techniques
  • Lean Six-Sigma certification is an asset

 Internal Relationship

  • Conduct regular and consistent communication meetings with Managers, to ensure consistency of information and attainment of goals and objectives.
  • Work in partnership with Managers on IDPs, development plans and elevating both the development and collaboration of direct reports
  • Provide managerial leadership to direct reports including ongoing feedback, performance evaluation, coaching, and recognition.
