About the Team
The Reporting team serves as the foundation for firm-wide data strategy, reporting, and analytics. This team designs and maintains the infrastructure that enables accurate, timely, and actionable insights across service lines and internal operations. By leveraging modern cloud platforms, data warehousing strategies, and visualization tools, we empower leaders to make informed decisions that drive growth, performance, and operational excellence.

 

About the Role

The Business Intelligence Developer plays a key role in designing, building, and maintaining modern data solutions that support strategic decision-making across the firm. This role focuses on developing scalable data pipelines, enterprise data models, and insightful dashboards using Microsoft Power BI, Azure Data Factory, Microsoft Fabric, and related technologies.

 

This position partners closely with internal stakeholders to translate business needs into technical solutions while ensuring data accuracy, accessibility, and performance.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

The essential duties & responsibilities of the Business Intelligence Developer role are outlined below in correlation with Dean Dorton’s performance management impact areas.

 

Technical

Definition: your specialized knowledge & expertise associated with the work you perform for/with clients (note: clients may be internal to Dean Dorton).

  • Design and implement end-to-end data solutions using Microsoft Power BI, Azure Data Factory, Microsoft Fabric, and modern data warehousing techniques.
  • Develop, deploy, and maintain Power BI reports and dashboards that provide actionable and strategic insights.
  • Build and optimize scalable data pipelines for integration, transformation, and automation of data movement.
  • Design and maintain enterprise-level data models and data warehouse structures that support reporting and analytics initiatives.
  • Utilize SQL, DAX, Power Query, and advanced analytical functions to enhance reporting capabilities.
  • Monitor data quality, performance, and system reliability, proactively identifying and resolving issues.
  • Deliver ad hoc analyses and dashboards to support business initiatives and leadership requests.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to team members regarding BI tools and data strategy.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in Business Intelligence development.
  • Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Power BI, Azure Data Factory, and Microsoft Fabric.
  • Strong understanding of SQL, data modeling, ETL processes, and data warehousing design principles.
  • Experience working with Azure cloud services in a data management environment.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
