About the Role
The Accounting & Financial Outsourcing (AFO) Senior Manager – Nonprofit Services provides strategic financial advisory and engagement leadership to a portfolio of nonprofit clients while overseeing the delivery of outsourced accounting services.
Operating within a CPA firm environment, this role serves as a senior client advisor and engagement leader, partnering with executive leadership and boards of 501(c)(3) organizations to strengthen financial operations, improve decision-making, and support long-term sustainability.
The Senior Manager is responsible for leading engagement teams, ensuring high-quality service delivery, and managing client relationships, while also contributing to practice growth and operational excellence.
This role requires deep experience supporting mission-driven organizations with complex funding structures, including grants, contracts, and donor-restricted funding, as well as demonstrated experience with grant budgeting, grant compliance, and financial reporting to funders.

This role may not be for you: If you prefer a more technical, behind-the-scenes position with limited client interaction. If managing complex client relationships, overseeing teams, and ensuring service delivery across multiple areas feels overwhelming, this role may be too demanding.
Additionally, if you are not comfortable leading strategic initiatives, recommending improvements to internal processes, or contributing to business development efforts, this role may not align with your strengths. This position also requires a passion for mentoring and fostering team development—if you prefer a more independent, non-collaborative role, it may not match your preferred working style.
This role may be for you: If you enjoy managing client relationships and overseeing the full scope of accounting services. If you excel at financial analysis, budgeting, and providing strategic guidance, this role offers the opportunity to help clients achieve financial success while supporting their business goals.
You should thrive in an environment where you are continuously learning and sharing insights, staying current with industry trends, and helping lead technology initiatives. If you enjoy mentoring others, building a positive team culture, and driving process improvements, this role offers significant opportunities for leadership and growth.
