In Field – Workspace is primarily Off Site at various locations around the island
Plant Area- Workspace is primarily in the Power Plant Area
Hybrid – Workspace is a combination of in the Administrative Building and in the Field or in the Plant Area
Satellite- Workspace is at one of CUC’s satellite locations

Unit Operator Apprentice I

Reporting to the Energy Supply Operations Supervisor, the successful candidate will be responsible for:


-         Regularly making observations rounds on all generating units and equipment to check for operating anomalies such as leaks or unusual noises and taking corrective action.

-         Carrying out all routine and scheduled operational tasks including: adding oil, greasing, cleaning strainers, etc. as per routine schedule or as needed. Assist with dewatering all tanks as per EMS requirements.

-         Isolating both electrical and mechanical within the plant for the purpose of maintenance. This will be done under detailed written instructions by the Systems Operations Supervisor.

-         Preparing generating units for starting and stopping as required by the Control Room Operator.

-         Investigating all alarms and taking corrective action to address the cause of the alarm.

-         Survey all equipment for operational status. This includes monitoring all levels of oil and water within all systems and taking corrective action when needed.

-         Keeping all areas of the plant clean and tidy.

-         Recording all operational data as required.



Applicants should possess:

-         High School Diploma

-         Technical diploma in related field preferred

-         One to two years’ apprentice experience is advantageous

-         Experience with combustion engines is advantageous

-         Applies technical knowledge and seasoned experience to complex issues and solves problems.

-         Ability to work with minimum supervision.

-         Knowledge and appreciation of safety standards and procedures.
