Corporate – Workspace is primarily in the Administrative Building 
In Field – Workspace is primarily Off Site at various locations around the island 
Plant Area- Workspace is primarily in the Power Plant Area 
Hybrid – Workspace is a combination of in the Administrative Building and in the Field or in the Plant Area 
Satellite- Workspace is at one of CUC’s satellite locations 
  
Responsibilities 
The successful candidate will be responsible for: 
  • Responsible for coordinating the continuity of Power Plant operations. This includes, but is not limited to:
    • Ensuring proper generation capacity is in service at all times to meet customer demands
    • Ensuring that the correct system frequency and system voltage is maintained at the generation source
    • Identifying unusual conditions and reporting these to the proper personnel, troubleshooting and solving abnormalities that may arise and raising appropriate work orders
    • Monitoring the operation of various generating units including thermal rental units, turbines, WHRS, distributed (thermal and renewable) generation, BESS and auxiliary equipment as per OEM requirements, by means of direct observation and through reports received from shift personnel
    • Ensuring supply of fuel, lube oil, air and service water to all engine rooms
    • Ensure housekeeping tasks throughout the engine rooms and other areas of responsibility are assigned, monitored and completed
    • Ensuring Systems to protect personnel, property and the environment (Fire Systems, Detection Systems, controls, automation, communication, etc.) remain functional
    • Take measures to decisively restore systems to the normal operating range/state (including but not limited to hydrocarbon holding tanks, engine sumps, waste oil sumps, spill containment, pumping systems, etc.) to prevent the release of hydrocarbons or other fluids.
    • Responding appropriately to emergency situations
    • Responsible for ensuring the continuity of the generation facility by making sure all task surrounding the power generation operation are followed according to OEM requirements.  
    • Responsible for the administration and control of shift personnel
    • Reviewing and signing off on employee time entries and logging vacation, personal and sick days for their respective crew
    • Ensure adequate coverage is available for each shift
    • Ensure Unit Operators are fully competent in their roles via on the job training, cross training and completion of development plans.
    • Responsible for communicating with operational departments on all matters concerning plant operations, liaising with personnel who are working on generation equipment/auxiliaries.
    • Responsible for ensuring that information is passed on from shift to shift, and all personnel is informed regarding the status of the plant.
    • Responsible for the analysis and documentation of logs and other records pertaining to the generation operations to determine efficiency, loading conditions and general operating conditions of the plant.
    • Responsible for reviewing and authorizing generation and auxiliary equipment switching orders, as per the “Energy Control Procedure”.
    • Responsible for ensuring the company’s EHS policies and procedures are carried out at all times and related reporting requirements are completed in accordance with CUC’s requirements including the coordination of operational drills. Seeks opportunities to improve EHS engineering controls, awareness and performance of all plant staff.
    • Other responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time. 
Requirements: 
Applicants should possess:  
  • High School Diploma.
  • Associates degree in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • ILM Level 3 required.
  • Proficiency in computer programs such as Microsoft Office suites and SCADA systems.
  • Eight (8) years’ experience in diesel generating plant and related equipment operation.
