Accountant

 

Objective

 

This position is responsible for applying generally accepted accounting principles and procedures to analyze financial information, help prepare accurate and timely financial reports and statements and ensure appropriate accounting control procedures are in place for The Church of Eleven22, Hope’s Closet and The Retreat Center.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Prepare month end close by compiling and analyzing all account information
  • Post and process journal entries to ensure all transactions are recorded
  • Review and prepare bank reconciliation, balance sheet reconciliations and other reports
  • Support day-to-day activities such as cash receipts, disbursements and other basic accounting functions for church operations, Hope’s Closet retail and The Retreat Center
  • Support audit fieldwork requests 
  • Assist other team members and accounting projects as necessary
  • Support accounting controls and procedures
  • Maintain staff confidence and protect operations by keeping financial information confidential and restricted

Education and Experience

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance strongly preferred
  • 3-5 years of accounting with experience in a variety of the field’s concepts, practices and procedures
  • Non-profit accounting experience preferred
  • Possess strong computer skills, proficient in Microsoft Office programs and have the ability to learn and use new computer software

 

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

 

This is a full-time position with office hours Monday through Friday, dependent upon church need. The church has several big events, (“All-Skates”) throughout the year to help further the mission of Eleven22. These events are mandatory for all staff to be in attendance and may vary, depending on the vision cast for the current year.

 

Work Environment

 

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

 

Physical Demands

 

This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary. This would also require close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures and viewing a computer.
