Job Title: Sales and Merchandising Manager

Ministry/Department: Hope’s Closet Central

Reports to: General Manager

Status: Full-time, non-exempt

Supervisory Role: Serve staff

Objective

To implement sales and merchandising programs for Hope’s Closet® Thrift, both short and long-range, while keeping focus on The Church of Eleven22® vision of being a movement for all people to discover and deepen a relationship with Jesus Christ.

Key Responsibilities

  • Minister of the gospel and Hope’s Closet Ambassador 
  • Develop and implement a visual merchandising strategy for Hope’s Closet 
  • Work with store teams in maintaining Hope’s Closet’s merchandising standards to ensure the store retains a dignified retail setting for customers 
  • Develop and maintain vendor relationships as well as obtain new vendors 
  • Maintain accurate inventory management records 
  • Manage inventory budget and buying plan 
  • Oversee new product receiving and processing
  • Lead in the development and project management of sales and ministry events
  • Collaborate with the Communication Project Manager on promotional and sales activities
  • Supports the development of content for communication of Hope’s Closet’s mission and promotional sales through marketing platforms, working with the Communication Project Manager 
  • Assist in providing content for social media platforms 
  • Educate store teams on product knowledge, displays and sales plans 
  • Provide support in developing, discipling and leading merchandising serve staff to execute window and in-store displays effectively
  • Assist in the store operations in the event of vacations and/or staffing needs

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Two-four years of relevant work experience

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time, non-exempt position that reports to the General Manager. Days and hours may change weekly based on store needs. Weekends are sometimes required based on scheduled events. 

The church has several big events (“All-Skates”) throughout the year to help further the mission of The Church of Eleven22 and Hope’s Closet. We encourage you to participate and serve at these events. The stores are closed during these events to ensure The Hope’s Closet team can participate in the spiritual formation of the church.

Work Environment

This position functions within a dynamic professional retail environment that encompasses both the sales floor and warehouse/stockroom operations. The role requires frequent movement between customer-facing and back-of-house areas and involves regular use of retail fixtures and equipment such as dollies, rolling racks, hand carts, ladders, cash registers, computers and other material-handling tools. Employees in this position are expected to maintain a clean, safe and organized workspace while adhering to all safety and operational standards to ensure efficiency and excellence in both customer service and inventory management.

Physical Demands

Must be able to stand or walk on concrete flooring for prolonged periods of time, bend, lift, grasp, reach, push and pull materials, walk on uneven surfaces, ladders and stairs and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
