Job Title: Facilities Maintenance Associate – Retreat Center

Ministry/Department: The Retreat Center

Reports to: Facilities Maintenance Director

Status: Full-time/non-exempt

Supervisory Role: No

Objective

Conduct maintenance, repairs and upkeep for Eleven22 Retreat Center assets, to include, but not limited to, golf course, land and marine vehicles, tools, equipment, ground maintenance machinery, cabins, buildings, ponds, spa, pool, docks, boat slips and landscape, while keeping focus on The Retreat Center LLC. vision of being a movement for all people to discover and deepen a relationship with Jesus Christ.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure that all systems and schedules for The Retreat Center Facility Maintenance Ministry are being efficiently executed
  • Recruit, on-board, train and disciple The Retreat Center, facility maintenance serve staff
  • Provide preventative maintenance and repairs for all mechanical, electrical and fire/life safety systems
  • Perform building repairs and remodels as needed
  • Ensure compliance with all environmental/safety regulations
  • Recruit serve staff and ensure they are being utilized and supported
  • Provide support for all retreats, encounters and onsite meetings as needed
  • Be prepared to share the gospel with any/all guests when presented the opportunity
  • Any other duties that may be assigned

Education and Experience

  • Highschool diploma or equivalent
  • Five years of relevant work experience
  • Five years of experience operating heavy equipment and machinery
  • Five years of experience managing multiple employees/volunteers

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Normal days and hours of work are Monday-Friday, 8:30am-5pm. During scheduled events and gatherings, work hours and days may vary, to include weekends and after hours. Flexibility is a must.

The church has several big events, (“All-Skates”) throughout the year to help further the mission of Eleven22. These events are mandatory for all staff to be in attendance and may vary, depending on the vision cast for the current year.

Work Environment

This job operates in an outdoor environment on 3,500 acres of South Georgia coastal woodlands, to include intercostal waterways, swamps and dense forests. Encounters with various wildlife (feral hogs, deer, snakes, alligators, spiders, ticks, mosquitos and other insects) are common.

Physical Demands

This role routinely requires outdoor physical labor in varying climates and conditions. Extreme summer heat as well as cold, wet winters are expected. Climbing ladders, walking on elevated surfaces, maneuvering aboard motorized water vassals and navigating in densely vegetated swamp lands are common.  

Ministerial Exception

The ministerial exception furthers the purposes of the Free Exercise and Establishment Clauses of the First Amendment by barring legal claims against church bodies by staff members who perform religious functions. All church pastors are subject to the exception, but a formal ministerial credential is not required. While there is no rigid formula to determine other church staff members that qualify, various factors are considered to determine which staff members are subject to the ministerial exception (please see handbook).
