Job Title: Golf Course Maintenance Associate
Ministry/Department: The Retreat Center/Facilities Maintenance
Reports to: Facilities Director
Status: Part-time, non-exempt
Supervisory Role: Serve staff
Objective
This position reports directly to the Facilities Director and exists to ensure that all facilities are managed wisely and efficiently in alignment with the vision of The Church of Eleven22®. The Golf Course Maintenance Associate plays a vital role in the daily upkeep and care of the golf course grounds and facilities. This position helps maintain the course in top playing condition through responsibilities such as landscaping, turf management and operating maintenance equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and care for turf, greens, tees, fairways, bunkers and rough areas
- Operate maintenance equipment including mowers, trimmers, blowers, utility vehicles and other specialized golf course machinery
- Assist with irrigation system operation, monitoring and minor repairs
- Perform landscaping tasks such as trimming trees, planting, edging and mulching
- Apply fertilizers, pesticides and other turf care treatments under supervision
- Rake bunkers, set tee markers, repair ball marks and ensure course readiness for daily play
- Assist in seasonal projects such as aeration, overseeding and drainage improvements
- Maintain a clean, organized, safe work environment and equipment area
- Follow all safety protocols and report any hazards or equipment issues promptly

Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Previous experience in landscaping, groundskeeping or golf course maintenance a plus
- Ability to safely operate and maintain groundskeeping equipment
- Knowledge of turf care practices and irrigation systems preferred, but not required
- Physical ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Strong work ethic, reliability and ability to work independently or as part of a team
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a part-time, exempt position. Normal days and hours of work are Monday thru Friday, 8:30am-5pm. During scheduled events and gatherings, work hours and days may vary, to include weekends and after hours. Flexibility is a must.
The church has several big events, (“All-Skates”) throughout the year to help further the mission of The Church of Eleven22 and The Retreat Center. We encourage you to participate and serve at these events.

Work Environment
This job operates in a professional environment. This role routinely uses industry standard petroleum-based liquids products, cleaning solutions and equipment. In addition, while performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to an outdoor environment on 3,500 acres of South Georgia coastal woodlands, to include intercostal waterways, swamps and dense forests. Encounters with various wildlife (feral hogs, deer, snakes, alligators, spiders, ticks, mosquitos and other insects) are common.
Physical Demands
This role requires a mixture of physical demands. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, stoop, bend, kneel or crouch. The employee must be able to stand/walk for long periods of time (up to eight hours) and have the ability to push/pull up to 50 pounds. Must be able to lift items of up to 15 pounds, bend and stand, load and unload various machinery apparatus. Extreme summer heat as well as cold, wet winters are expected.
