Principal Technical Accountant
Description
- Technical Accounting Leadership:
- Serve as the primary technical accounting expert, providing authoritative guidance on complex accounting issues and transactions.
- Conduct in-depth research and interpretation of new and existing accounting standards (GAAP) and develop implementation strategies.
- Provide training on complex and evolving accounting standards to the broader accounting team.
- Financial Reporting and Compliance:
- Lead the preparation and review of financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant accounting standards.
- Oversee the development of filings and regulatory reports, to include tax.
- Ensure the company's financial reporting processes adhere to SOX compliance requirements and other regulatory mandates.
- Lead major technical accounting projects
- Audit and Internal Controls:
- Develop and maintain robust internal controls to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Address and resolve audit findings, implementing corrective actions as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or equivalent certification is required.
- 10+ years of progressively responsible experience in technical accounting, with a significant portion in a public accounting firm (Big 4 or top-tier firm) and corporate accounting.
- Expert knowledge of GAAP, and other relevant accounting standards.
- Proven experience in leading the implementation of new accounting standards and complex technical accounting projects.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically and execute effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex accounting concepts to diverse stakeholders.
- Proficiency in accounting software and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
