We are Looking for:
The Audio Engineer supports the audio needs of live events, contributing to their overall success and impact. This is a fully on-site position on a temporary part-time/ad-hoc basis.
Job Responsibilities:
- Manage and ensure a well-mixed event for both streaming and live audience experience.
- Create and develop original workflows to adapt to changing show and client needs.
- Collaborate with presenters to correctly place and monitor lavalier microphones.
- Prepare and organize handheld microphones as required.
- Optimize and follow the run-of-show document to ensure smooth event flow.
- Partner with other crew members to execute and produce audio elements before and during shows.
- Attend pre-show production meetings to analyze and interpret assigned responsibilities.
- Test and interpret all playback elements to ensure proper playout.
- Maintain focus on event content to deduce high-quality execution.
- Ensure precise audio recording levels.
- Program, design, and operate mixers, microphones, and other audio equipment.
- Perform regular maintenance checks on audio equipment.
- Troubleshoot and invent technical issues during events (signal flow, networking, etc.).
- Ensure clear and balanced sound for vocals, instruments, and other audio sources.
- Commission and design PA systems as needed.
- Act as a subject matter expert on broadcast and live audio equipment.
- Manage RF coordination and the creation of voice-overs or other audio content.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for audio production inquiries.
- Collaborate with production operators and producers on system integration and upgrades.
- Occasionally assist production operators with other event requirements.
Qualifications and Experience:
- 5 - 7 years of broadcast or live event experience in audio engineering or related discipline.
- Bachelor's degree or certification in Audio Engineering, Sound Design, or a related field preferred (e.g., L Acoustics, SMAART, Pro Tools, Q-SYS, or other audio certifications).
- Proficient knowledge of audio systems, signal flow, and troubleshooting techniques.
- Expertise in operating digital and analog audio consoles.
- Familiarity with ST2110 standards.
- Experience with cloud-based workflows.
- Proficiency in streaming protocols and workflows.
- Understanding of ENG production, including remote video production.
- Ham radio certification or documented RF experience.
- Knowledge of the RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization) process.
- Experience with Crestron systems.
- Proficiency with Google Workspace tools (Docs, Sheets, Calendar, Slides) and Microsoft Outlook Mail, Calendar, and Teams
Compensation & Benefits:
Compensation range for this position $45-$55/hour.
