Location Requirement:

Applicants must be based in the Ft. Lauderdale or Miami area, as this is a fully onsite role. Candidates located outside this region will not be considered.
 
About the Role:

The MCR (Master Control Room) Operator is a key member of our Live Streaming Operations team. In this role, you'll be responsible for monitoring and managing inbound and outbound transmissions, ad insertion, feed routing, and the overall quality of video, audio, and captions for high-profile live sporting events and other major broadcasts.
 
This is a fast-paced environment that requires flexibility—evenings, weekends, and holidays may be required. We’re looking for someone who is detail-oriented, calm under pressure, and thrives in live production scenarios.
 
Workforce & Scheduling:

This position is part of our Flex Workforce, meaning hours can vary based on project needs. Technicians will be booked for specific shifts with as much advance notice as possible, and all schedules will be coordinated and agreed upon between ASG and the Technician.
 
Project Timeline:

This role is expected to work 40+ hours per week from May through July, with the potential for additional work after July based on project demand.
 

Responsibilities:  

  • Acquire and monitor all inbound video, audio, caption feeds  
  • Ensure continuity of programming by confirming that live feeds are checked in correctly, including transmission “fax” checks and coordinating with remote/studio locations for any issues  
  • Monitor and maintain the continuity and availability of live broadcast  
  • Route various signals according to booking and program schedule information   
  • Cue & roll slate on EVS IP Director  
  • Count in and out of Studio & Truck segments and commercial breaks  
  • With the guidance of Operation Supervisors, work as a team to promptly recover from any on-air discrepancies  
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and escalate to Engineer-in-Charge or providers  
  • Report and document technical issues – including logging of on-air discrepancies 
  • Operate all broadcast equipment and technology within assigned operating areas   
  • Participate in special event coverage and projects as necessary   
  • Other duties as assigned   
 

Requirements:  

  • 2-4 years of experience in a Master Control Room environment  
  • Works well under the pressure of Live Television   
  • General understanding and experience with broadcast routers, transmission systems, monitoring, playout/ad insertion, valid readers, replay, graphics, and other television technology   
  • Ability to read scopes and basic understanding of broadcast and streaming systems   
  • Team player and prepared to learn new skills, embrace and nurture a culture of change and positive attitude   
  • Schedule flexibility with the ability to work late nights on Sundays.   
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills in English 
  • Sports fan and knowledge is a plus  
 

Physical Demands & Work Environment: 

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a computer, potentially in a dark control room. 
  • All work will be performed on-site at one of our client locations.
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity to operate control panels, switches, and other technical equipment 

 

Compensation & Benefits: 

This role is paid an hourly rate of $30-45/hour depending on experience.
