Reporting to the Director of Business Development, Energy Storage, the Manager, Energy Storage is responsible for driving the company’s business development activities for utility grid-connected energy storage and Photo Voltaic (“PV”) + storage projects in the U.S. The Manager, Energy Storage will lead Recurrent’s energy storage related market analysis and revenue structuring efforts within a storage team working across Recurrent’s portfolio. The storage team works closely with other internal groups in developing new energy storage market strategies, customer relationships, products, and solutions. This individual will have wholesale energy market and energy storage development experience.


Principle Responsibilities/Key Results Areas

  • Work to expand and execute on Recurrent’s energy storage pipeline, including market analysis, siting and early-stage development support, and revenue contract origination for stand-alone and PV+S projects.
  • This role will span both traditional project development and origination/structuring roles.
  • Management of energy storage market strategy, execution, and project valuation assumptions.
  • Apply technical knowledge of energy storage to the needs and applications of power purchasers and merchant energy market opportunity, and structure and optimize energy storage products.
  • Build models and analyses to aid internal risk and financial assessments, and external power marketing activities.
  • Develop proposals and negotiate with power purchasers.
  • Support project M&A (buy/sell) with power markets and energy storage knowledge.
  • Deep understanding of energy, capacity, and ancillary services markets, and RTO/ISO market structures.
  • A commercial mindset and an aggressive but responsible approach to risk taking.  
  • Experience working with utilities, regulators, legislators, trade associations, and other stakeholders to reach successful outcomes. Understanding of policy and political processes is a plus.
  • Business development experience, including: identifying new customers, creating value propositions, and negotiating & executing revenue contracts.
  • Some experience in storage project development is desired, including: energy storage considerations for real estate, permitting, interconnection, etc.
  • Sufficient technical ability to work directly with customers to assess specific energy storage applications, and efficiently leverage internal technical teams.
  • Strong financial experience with demonstrated understanding of project pro-formas; experience with third-party project financing a plus.
  • Critical thinking, self-motivated, with an entrepreneurial drive for bringing ideas and opinions to the table and creating and growing businesses.

  • No direct financial responsibility
  • Indirect fiscal responsibility through financial modeling and assisting to close external customer transactions
  • Works across Origination & Structuring team, as well as with Development,  Mergers & Acquisitions, Project Finance, and others in the company


  • Reports to the Director of Business Development, Energy Storage
  • Supports Analysts and Associates in proposal preparation, PPA negotiations, acquisitions, and market analyses
  • Coordinates with internal teams on proposals, contract negotiations and technical analyses
  • Interacts with external customers and market counterparties

Experience & Education

  • Demonstrated commercial energy storage experience.
  • Understanding of energy market structures and key products.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn technologies is essential.
  • Minimum 3-5 years’ related experience.
  • Bachelor’s Degree required; MBA a plus.
  • Experience working in cross functional teams.
